Any place to get some help with mimic? Marque

I only tried out their public beta, but maybe I can help. What's the problem? I do know that in oder to use a figure with Mimic, the figure must have the same phenome morphs that the P3/P4 male and female figure have. I don't think the Millenium models will work with Mimic, nor will any of the animals in Poser4. -JH.

The vickie model will work if you fix the spelling in the cr2. I need help with the part after you apply the mimic file. I need to be able to have the model say a sentence, then raise her arm, then say another sentence. At this point if I put in a keyframe and raise her arm, her arm starts raising at the beginning of the animation, instead of waiting. Any ideas? I went to the poser manual and the poser handbook to see if I could get rid of the keyframes for that part, but I can't seem to get it. Thanks for getting back to me! 8^) Marque

Can someone tell me where I might be able to get mimic? Is there a demo version, is it free, if not, how much is it? A site would help. Greeg72

There is a demo at www.lipsinc.com If you have poser be sure to get the mimic program the others won't work for you. 8^) Marque

Marque, This is an animation and keyframing issue, not related to Mimic; it has to do with the various types of interpolation. LecBlue used to have a great page explaining all this, but it's a dead link now. The PoseAmation mailing list would be perfect for questions like this, it's moderated by a former Disney animator who uses Poser in his work. PoseAmation@egroups.com You can also ask around at the PFO, I remember Dave_L had a pretty good understanding of these concepts too. -JH.

The reason why the arm raises from the beginning of the animation...... What you did point A was your first pose then you went to where ever point b was going to be and you set that keyframe Therefor right after passing point A the program thinks its supposed to raise the arm until it reaches point B your setup SHOULD be done this way. Set Keyframe A(Point A) Decide where you want to place your actual keyframe(Point C) where you make the object move. Before you set that keyframe go how ever many frames backwards you want and set another keyframe(Pont B) THis keyframe should be identical to your first one (Point A) The farther apart the two keyframes B and C are the longer the duration it takes to pose from POint A to Point C. In otherwords if Point B is too close to Point C then the object will move fast. I find that you can solve the imic issue two ways. One apply the mimic pose before animating any other part of that figure. Or, two. Uncheck "Use inverse Kinetics for all arms and legs, And so, stranglely enough Poser Dorks head does not twist into a pretzel. JanP

Thanks! I will try that, and I will let you know how it comes out. I won't be able to do it until later though. I appreciate the response to this question as I plan to use a lot of mimic stuff in the future and I need to get a handle on it. Thanks everyone and especially Jan. Marque
