What kind of slices? Can you show a picture of what you want?

Just square slices, in order to get a very large, life size, render done as several small renders. I'll bring a picture with me next time I'm on line. Thanks Ockham, = )

My initial guess is that there's no way to do it cleanly. It would require refocusing the camera in four different areas, so the result would not be centered properly.

what about.. is there a way to make a script so that when you click render it "skips" to a point in the pic and starts rendering there? say i want to render a pic, it takes 3 hours but after 1 hour i need to stop it, so i can use the comp for other things, so current progress is saved then later i come back, start the script, select which "patch" to start at again, and it continues this method would also allow splitting renders to multiple comps, each making a set of the "patches" in the pic then a paint program can easily stack together into 1 pic

Ockham - Thanks, I was'nt focusing on moving the camera, but that was a nice idea! anxcon has the right idea. I think alot of render crashes happen because the jobs are just too big, but if there were a way to half or quarter the job, much like for use with different computers, I think bigger things would happen! = )
