Sorry for the massive delay. This go around, since the month and our time is so short, we're going to build a chair. It can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be. Thhe challenge starts today and ends February the 25th at 11:59:59pm CST. Remember to have fun with it! As it's a learning expereince, everyone will be required to post wires of their model as it progresses.

Yes please, if it's not too much trouble. Low poly wires would be best.

low poly wires are not a problem mate, at least for me, cant speak for anyone else of course ;)

ive designed 2 chairs, ones a plywood/tubular chrome combo, the others a leather /tubular chrome combo which is much more detailed.

ill work on the models over the weekend and post some pics.

cheers
stu

Sounds like fun. I will have to make soem new chairs because all mine are now in their high poly form.

Aaaaiiiii... "chairs"? Not again! The few times I ever get to model at the office is for some designer asking me to make a mesh of a chair from some catalog for use in some office space we are designing for a client. Strangely... the actual chair manufacturers don't have a 3D mesh of their own products. You'd have thought that they'd have one to give away to designers (to make it easier for them to sell their product). Anyhoo... I suppose it would be fun to try modeling an antique chair. I'll see if I can get some reference pictures up before I take a stab at this challenge. :o) Cheers! M

This might be a dumb question but "where or to whom" will we post final renders. Should we be sending our work and low poly renders to"?". Just curious since if I go and make something I'll want to know what to do after that and have not submitted in this forum yet.

Good question... might be too late to set up a challenge page... hmmmm... what if we post WIP's to individual threads, then at the end of the challenge we just wait and see what Teyon's got in mind. I suspect it might be as simple as all participants posting to a special thread, then we do an open poll from there. :o) Best to wait and see what Teyon thinks is best. Cheers! - M

Wow. M, you're like...psychic and stuff. That's pretty much what I had in mind for this month, just to get an idea of how many folks would enter and stuff. Now, if you could maybe work your M-jo on the New York State Lotto Jackpot and slip me the numbers....
