ROFL!

It is rather odd, that the only figure they're showing in the P6 preview images is Woody.

Are the new human figures one of the "secrets" they will reveal soon? Do they not want us to know that it's the same old Don and Judy? Have they made a deal with DAZ, so V3 and M3 are the P6 people, and work in the Face Room?

geep heard about P6 and he's been 'ladling the sauce' if ya catch my drift. ;0) I think that the Japanese owners sent some Ninjas to remove the old CL programmers and installed some Budo ones. This looks like some fine amazing updates from P5 (sans Malcontent Paradox still shtinkin' up the place). Wonder if they did any rigging changes?

I've mentioned this before.....jokingly.

However, if that were true, then it would go a long way towards explaining why V3 and M3 are now free.

PapaBlueMarlin posted Thu, 17 February 2005 at 12:41 AM

It was her mouth that reminds me of Judy. It's almost certainly not a DAZ figure. My thought was that DAZ found out about how advanced the new figures would be and maybe that's why they gave away M3 and V3. The node sort of reminds me of V2, but not really. I'm just thinking of this as a teaser rather than what the actual packaging may look like. The figures on the P5 package look nothing like Don and Judy after all.

This looks like Poser5 Japanese edition package. Japanese sdition image is from Terrace's Vicky work. (see the link) Comparing with both P6 and P5JP packages. I think P6's woman must be a new figure. Not Vicky not Judy. Anyway.....How can Japanese to get P6 special ENGLISH edition? I'm tired to make the same question to CL.

So that is Vicky?

From CL's e-mail:

Poser 6 Special Edition not only brings to you the power of this latest release, but also offers you the majestic "Winter Queen Figure Pack", a beautifully designed box created in the "Winter Queen" theme and a full version of Shade designer LE with PoserFusion. Poser, the "Winter Queen Figure Pack", Shade designer LE and PoserFusion together, creates one of the most powerful 3D solutions available by integrating Poser into Shade.

It says the box is "created in the Winter Queen theme," not necessarily that it is the Winter Queen. Hmmmm. The "Winter Queen Figure Pack" sounds like it's a new figure, not a character for Judy. Could it be a special edition of Vicky?

If V3 and M3 work in the Face Room, I will be positively ecstatic.

I hope Content Parasite is removable. I may well shop there, if they have good stuff at good prices, but I don't want to do it from inside Poser. I can find my way there on my own, thank you very much. I don't like the recent trend toward linking software to online stores, blurring the line between offline and online. (Apple, this means you.) If I pay for the software, I shouldn't have to put up with built-in ads. What next? A new car that automatically drives you to the mall? :-P

aeilkema posted Thu, 17 February 2005 at 8:03 AM

It's V4, why else is DAZ giving V3/M3 away for free. They want to maximize their profits before P6 is released. By the way P6 contains M4 too!

Curious_Labs posted Thu, 17 February 2005 at 11:18 AM

Hi,

I'm not able to give too much detail on this yet but to answer two items, the Poser 6 Special Edition image is not Judy or Victoria. And the Poser 5 promotional package in Japan is not Poser 6, just a similar image used for Poser 5 as holiday retail promo. Notice that the Japanese facial image is completely different than the P6SE.

Anyway, more details will continue to come out over the next weeks while heading towards the release of Poser 6.

Kind regards,
Katherine

The figure on the P6 box looks like Judy to me, with a reasonably decent morph job... (something about the eyebrows/mouth) This is a little troubling to me.

ah well... Also IIRC The US P5 box has V2 and M2 with TONS of postwork. Shows what faith they had in Don and Judy. :p

Disney's film version of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is scheduled to be released on December 9th, 2005. For those unfamiliar with C. S. Lewis fantasy series of books, the Witch was the White Witch who ruled the world in a reign of eternal winter, very much a "Winter Queen." Perhaps Curious Labs is hoping to ride on the success of the movie if it does well. Jay

PapaBlueMarlin posted Thu, 17 February 2005 at 12:47 PM

Jay, I was thinking about that too...

mamba-negra posted Thu, 17 February 2005 at 1:23 PM

I would like to know if the version of shade that comes with the Winter Queen bundle is the same as the LE version for sale. I would sign up today for a pre-release if I knew that to be true. Anyone seen confirmation (the add just says Shade LE, which might be an older version, I guess)....if it is the current version, the P6 + Shade alone is worth the price of an upgrade. I like Wings3d, but I might could get used to Shade:) eric

Firebirdz posted Thu, 17 February 2005 at 2:45 PM

If I am not mistaken, Winter Queen is a character made originally in another Modelling software my a Japanese artist. I think those in Japan might be familiar with the artist or modeller. I recall seeing this once but cannot remember wnere. LOL!

randym77 posted Thu, 17 February 2005 at 4:21 PM

See Yamato's post 33 above. But Katherine says it's a different image, and a different figure. (I assume created by the same artist, though.)

aeilkema posted Thu, 17 February 2005 at 4:33 PM

Well I do really hope the new figures in Poser 6 will be good enough to draw some artist away from DAZ and get them creating content for the new figures. Also if their really good enough, I may finally be free from spending to much cash at DAZ and be delivered from Mike & Vicky. Now that would be great for a change. Just to add, I really do love Don already and eternal Judy isn't to bad either, but there's just not enough support for them, which results in too little content.

If Cubed did as good a job with the P6 figures as they did with that baby, DAZ may well have some real competition. (Maybe that's why they're giving away V3 and M3 for free.)

aeilkema posted Thu, 17 February 2005 at 4:39 PM

I really do hope so!

"Maybe that's why they're giving away V3 and M3 for free"

That was my guess too. They're trying to make as much money from V3/M3 as they can, while they still can. By giving them away, people get hooked on them and just buy stuff for them.

Re: Butt-Ugly Judy

Agreed that Judy, unmorphed, looks pretty horrible and fake, but have a play in the face room....she can be turned into a real hotty...(Can the face-room faces be saved? Maybe I should do a freebie pack)

Doesn't solve the unmorphable body-shape though...

If they can get M3, V3 compatible with the Faceroom I'll be a very happy jobbie.

xantor posted Fri, 18 February 2005 at 9:13 AM

You actually would have to save the eyes as morphs too, unless you could work out how to move them into place, but then you would have to tell people that as well. You can save the figures to the libraries but even with compression on they are a bit big and you would have to encode them with rteEncoder or something similar to redistribute them. You could just encode the cr2 and distribute that with the texture to people.

bigjobbie posted Fri, 18 February 2005 at 10:15 AM
