I'm thinking of getting Vue 4 or maybe 5.

I've d/l'd both and tried them out. It looks like if I buy 4, then upgrade to 5, then I will save more money then just buying 5.
Am I thinking this out correctly?

Vue 5 $249.00

Vue 4 $69.00
Vue 4 to 5 upgrade 149.00
This comes out to 218.00

And there is another one that says: Applicable to customers who bought Vue d'Esprit 4 after September 15th, 2003.
for 129.00

This totals only 198.00

Mover is mover no matter what - $99.00

Is there no way to call these people?

Oddly enough, you will get it cheaper going the upgrade way. Look at the hint on: http://www.e-onsoftware.com/Products/vue4/Esd.php
HINT! Did you know that with Vue 4 Download Version, you are eligible for the Late buyer's offer on Vue 5 Esprit for only $129? So don't miss this unique offer!
However, you will probably not get the boxed edition: http://www.e-onsoftware.com/Support/ShowMessage.php?id=1101767454
It does not include the box, postcard and quick reference card. It will include 2 CDs, and the user manual.
Note: I did not check those prices - and if you happen to be located in Europe you will be paying "somewhat different" prices in euros or pounds. Happy choosing!

Look at the Vue Forum FAQ (the link is at the top of this page, just above the header).... you will find their phone number :)

mm it actually get alittle cheaper, however the difference isnt that big if you live in europe since youll have to pay the vat x2, but you do get v4esd and v5e for less then buying v5e right away even if you pay vat x 2.

What I found out about the difference is the display of the terrain. It's dark grey until you render it. No way to see the texture. Where in V5, the terrain shows up as a real green, or whatever. I'm set on opengl, and it's a bit funky to set up.

v5 has alot of other improvements aswell. the render engine is way better, metablobs is a nice addition aswell that is actually more usefull then you might first realise, you have alot more control over lights with the light module, and if you ad the botanica module youll get a better plant editor aswell. Lots of other small enhancements aswell.
