I'm going to ramble, so if you want you can just skip to the pictures, i won't be offended. Oh, and some of this may not be verbatim but I'm telling the story here so sit back and relax :)

Ok, so I was talking to Davo (aka Davorama) and asking if i could use some of his textures to make a freebee for LCV1 (he said yes). oh by the way he says here are a couple of images of things I'm working on. Just gunna add a few things to round out the set before I set them up. So i said hey, could you do something like a medical station/ mini med bay and a Kitchenette (see, I'm thinking of doing a comic and I need a few things to round out my ship). sure he says send me some sketches so i can get an idea of what your looking for.

So i sent him this. (Davo insisted that i admit to making the sketches)

After that things went quiet for a while, I got my floor for the LCV textured and all set up. Then about a month later I get an e-mail from Davo with images of the stuff he made based on my sketches.
After several minutes gawking in amazement i pick my jaw up off the floor, wipe the drool from my keyboard and read back over the e-mail. He writes Would you be interested in doing some promo renders for me? My first thought was who in their right mind would say no to that? Heck i can't even think of anybody who isn't in their right mind that would say no.

So i get the set and load it up and pop it up in my poser library. Again I was stunned. These are not single use props and figures but a set of parts, modules if you will, (complete assembles included also). Not only will these things suit my needs, i imagine a dozen more uses as i scroll though the library.

Finally i settle on one and load it up. The med bay assembly. Once it was in the scene i was amazed yet again at all the moving parts. Not only do the cabinet doors open, the handle/latch lifts up. The bed turns, and extends and adjusts. The scanner can stand alone. All the parts have the unnecessary dials hidden. For example, click on the handle to the door and you will have one dial, Lift. Select the door and you have one dial, Open.

Ok, must move on. The kitchenette. Drawers open, sink knobs turn, the spigot turns, the shelves in the refrigerator are adjustable (with a dial). The microwave/food rehydrator or what ever you wish to use it for, has a door that can open down or to the side. The kitchen table can adjust in height, and width and length.

Next the bed assembly, drawers open, drawer pull handles can be raised up, the hatch at the foot of the bottom bunk opens. The beds are in pieces that can be used together or as independent bunks, the blanket on the mattress can be lengthened or shortened or made invisible. Don't like the foot boards? Headboards? Guard rails? Take them off, they are separate parts.

The Locker cabinet also has adjustable shelves.

Oh geez, all this and i still haven't gotten to the cryochamber, med bay lamp, or bathroom assembly that includes shower, sink, toilet, toilet paper dispenser and a room to put it in.

I almost forgot to mention all this comes in the standard gray texture that matches the and the Sci-Fi Construction Set at DAZ.

There will also be a texture package that includes white and worn metal for all these pieces.

Ok, what you've been waiting for....
the pictures.
I'm posting small pictures here, and I'll put the full size (1024x768) in my gallery as i am able.

Unfortunately-- even with the time delays-- Daz seems the best choice as the textures match his other sci-fi units there. These are far and away the best ever though. Triple thanks to You, Tiger Purr for your sketches that started this ball rolling. I love love the kitchen but the bunks are my favorite. Emily

Ok those three images are up my personal gallery so if you want to see them even bigger just cruise on over and take a look.

I finaly got around to playing with the cryochamber. Damb this thing is cool.

Check this out, these are all the same model. I've shown all three diffrent textures, and spun diffrent dials to open the top (not all options are shown). It can hinge from the side, from the top, or slide up or down, or slide sideways, or come straigth up away from the base. On the lid there is also a small pannel that opens to the top or to the side.

There are two small devices (seen no M3's shoulders/upper chest) on the inside that can be twisted and turned to monitor the sleeping person (or whatever your story line would like to make them do) and they can be hidden if you don't want them.

Hi Guys, Thank you all for the kind and positive comments :-) And thank you Tyger for starting this thread:-) I've hoped to jump in earlier, but my whole family and I have been down with bronchitus, head cold... ugg... it's been a miserable week and my desire to sit in front of a computer has been... well... not there.. cough cough.. I'll post a few more images of the set, it's the promo stuff that was sent in with the daz submittal. I sent the package over to daz last monday, so, fingers crossed, it'll get uploaded any time now. Walt.. Dang it!! I knew I forgot something. I'll get a ladder made and stick it in the freebie package I'm putting together. I'm also thinking of sticking a cafeteria style food platter with a knife and fork to go along with the kitchenette. I created this package to help flesh out the orignal sets I've created in the past, walls and doors are fine, but hey, it's nice to fill in those scenes with a little touch of humanity :-) Davo

OOOOOOO HA! HA! HA! HA! You so fonny long time, too buku fonny! Don't know how long this one will take, there's going to be a lot of stuff in here. The hard laborious part is laying out the texture templates just right, then of course all the texturing.. ug.. I was wondering if anybody would be interested in putting together a decals package. Something with symbols and logos for cool insignias. It's something I would do, but just don't have the time for it. What would make it even better is each symbol have it's own 3d faces so it could just be inserted and slid up next to the surface of a model. Or have a flat 3d plane with transmapping.

Tyger_purr posted Mon, 14 March 2005 at 11:56 AM

davo posted Mon, 14 March 2005 at 1:27 PM

PANdaRUS... Being my pupil often requires a lot of spanking, so you might want to reconsider that ;^) Garic.. Do you mean a transport that rides on the water, like a boat? I can probably make some kind of hydro-foil props so they can ride over the water. I have all sorts of body types in mind so you'll more than likely be able to create something along the lines you want.

davo posted Mon, 14 March 2005 at 1:29 PM

ps.. the front of the transport does fold down into a ramp so people/machinery can march or drive off of it.

Garic posted Mon, 14 March 2005 at 1:34 PM

Exactly! Or at least something more marine looking for accessories. Since it's sci-fi it can hover over the water without needing to touch the water. But something to make it look like it belongs on the ocean. :) Believe me, I'm going to buy it regardless since its just what i'm looking for.

davo posted Thu, 17 March 2005 at 11:03 AM

Hi Guy, I've mulled over the possibility of doing the alternative textures for the LCV1 and have decided that sooner or later I'll do them to match the FVCS and MCV1. If you let me know what your first choice is for a texture scheme, I'll do that one first. Thanks all for your kind comments. I'm still plugging away at the GVCS. Feel free to post any sketches or ideas you have. No gaurantee that I'll do them, but it gives me a good idea of what you guys are interested in. Cheers, Davo

ghoyle1 posted Thu, 17 March 2005 at 2:58 PM

Thanks, Davo! Either a weathered metal color scheme or a white one would be good for me, but anything will do. I'm just starting on this project involving the LCV1, so changes won't be hard to make. Incidentally, for the SFCS2 set, which I dearly love, I do have a couple of suggestions: 1) An alternate texture for the medical scanner, for females (look at how often females get medical treatment in your series!) 2) Some restraints for the medical bed (although I guess some of your other restraints will do) 3) Some gynecology equipment (stirrups, tools, etc.) Weird, huh? Take care!

Garic posted Thu, 17 March 2005 at 4:56 PM

I agree with the weathered metal color scheme. Just something that looks used. :)

davo posted Thu, 17 March 2005 at 6:20 PM

YOU GUYS!!! heh heh... Okay, the whites and blacks are easy to do, I do them at the same time anyway and they are the easiest ones to do. Nalif has done a kick-ass job on some grungy textures for my MCV1 (see attached) that have a worn metal scheme, he also did the worn metal texture on the freebie hover speedbike at my beyondbent.com website. I also asked him to work on construction yellow theme which I thought was cool. If you can rattle Nalif's cage and convince him that his alternate textures would be worth it, I bet he'd work some up. I have did a little experimentation with worn metal on my S.F.C.S. II package, but I think his is more realistic and authentic than mine. Guy.. heh heh,, you would ask for gyno stirrups... I'll mull over making a set posable stirrups. As for the female scanner image, I'll give it a try in some spare time. Tyger, that's a big list, many of those items are already in planning :-) Don't forget that this package will be textured the same as the Flight Construction set, so the engines and body parts from that package will interchangable, as well as with the MCV1, Oh hell, the LCV1 as well.

randym77 posted Thu, 17 March 2005 at 6:22 PM

I love that texture. Used-looking, but not the dark, grungy look that we see so much of.

davo posted Thu, 17 March 2005 at 6:37 PM

Nalif did a very good job on re-texturing my original S.F.C.S. package with that kind of a texture scheme and they both realy appeal to me because they aren't "over the top" with grunge. It's a really nice "used looking" texture as you say. Here's the lab module

I was rather depending on them being interchangeable. The Flight packaged doesnt have a cargo holding body with sliding doors on the sides. i rather expected one, given the number of modern helicopters (small unit flying transport) that have that type arrangement. I was hoping you could slip it in this pack. And the trailer attachements are something i didn't know if you would think of but i thought might be useful. I'm planning on reorginizing my runtimes when I get P6, maybe i should just starta a Davo runtime. :-)
