Hello people. Everybody has been posting their works here so I figured I'd do it as well. I got this audio clip at the 10 seconds club website and I made an animation out of it. I've been working on this one today and I think I am nearly there. http://www.digital-opaque.net/works/wip/rika_anima2.avi I only have body animation so far. I haven't done anything to the hands nor the face. C&C welcome *big grin* <---signature---> Free your Maya Opaque3D http://www.digital-opaque.netnemirc

Overall she's pretty fluid and you did a nice job on the secondary motion! Her last head swing (from her left to her right at the very end) seemed just a tad abrupt but it may seem that way because the animation ends right there. You might consider adding a second or two at the end where she stares at the viewer for emphasis. That's what you'd probably do if you were delivering these lines for real. I'm finding it hard to see the lip movement but that's understandable with this particular display. Is this going to be a part of something larger or is this just a short excercise? What is the 10 seconds club website?

Thanks for the comments Bobasaur. Actually someone mentioned that thing about the head yesterday. I made her do the swing earlier on the animation and now you have like one and something seconds at the end. The lips are not moving because I haven't animated them yet ;) So far I only have the body (without finger animation). I am currently working on the fingers and then I will do the face *big grin* This clip is for my reel. I hadn't done any character animation for nearly 4 or 5 months after I made my last demo and I think It's a good time to "renew" myself ;) The 10 seconds club is a website where they post a sound clip that lasts around 10 seconds and you come up with an animation for that clip. They have this monthly competition (just for fun) but they also keep the previous soundfiles on their website. I downloaded like 5 that I liked and I am going to make animations for those. This was the first. <---signature---> Free your Maya Opaque3D http://www.digital-opaque.netnemirc

It looked to me like the lips were moving a bit, but since everything has the same texturing it may be my eyes deceiving me. Sounds you've got different directors directing differently. (grin) And thanks for the link to the 10 second site. I'll look through it!

Hello again. I've changed the swing at the end and I've also added the fingers. The body animation will be pretty much what you see here since I feel it's finished now. The face isn't moving still. I will do that tomorrow... nights nights... http://www.digital-opaque.net/works/wip/rika_anima3.avi <---signature---> Free your Maya Opaque3D http://www.digital-opaque.netnemirc

And another update. I've finished the body and the eyes. I am only missing the mouth animation :) http://www.digital-opaque.net/works/wip/rika_anima5.avi <---signature---> Free your Maya Opaque3D http://www.digital-opaque.netnemirc

Nicely done. And I appreciate the WIPs so that we could see how you added each piece of animation to the final as you finessed it. :D I was wondering about the ending... shouldn't she have a more 'squinted' eye look, since she's kinda pissed at 'Coppertop' and wants an answer NOW! ;) Just my 2 cents...

Very nice! It's good to see more character animation being posted. Do you have any more animations online?

Hey, it's quite an improvement. My onlytimy suggestion would be a little bit more right/left movement on her eyes. Specifically, when shy leans back, cocks her head to her left and says "my way" I'd take her right eye and move it just a bit more to her right so it looks like it's more directly facing the viewer. Overall very fluid motion. You did a good job animating the whole character - not just parts of her (good secondary motion). It would be kind of fun to see her as the head of a gang consisting of variations of "the Freak." Those big eyes of hers could turn bright red when she's angry. She could be... the kid sister from hell! (grin)

Those wonderful big iris's help a lot but I noticed the white of her eye in the place I specifically mentioned and it seemed just a bit much. Of course, this looks great and I know I'm being picky. I don't think I've ever looked at something I've done and thought, "It's finally perfect!" If my intended audience was professionals in this industry I'd work harder. Since most of my things are directed towards people who are less educated in this field, I let many things slide. [big grin]

I never have anything perfect either, but at a certain point I usually get tired of working on stuff and decide it's time to wrap it up.
