I am new to poser and to posting on the web, but I have run into something that makes no sense. I have a brand new computer with 2.9 mhz and 1 gig of memory. The problem is that when I start Poser it starts loading and it seems to take forever to load, if it loads at all. Can you give me some help with this.Message edited on: 02/24/2005 23:21

From what i've learned poser is a HUGE hog of space and memory, so if you are using poser make sure all of the unnecessary stuff is closed, like multiple web browsers, other programs like messenger or something.. i usually close all but keep one browser open and then play with Poser, its slow but my memory isnt that big lol

Try loading it with all ethernet connections disabled.

you can get Poser5 to load from the XP desktop to fully loaded default (poser 5 man) in as little as 11 seconds (best time I have ever heard). Can you time your load and report it? Also, your 'rig' which is forum-speak for your CPU, your RAM, your HardDrive(s) and your Operating system, such as OSX or XPHome or Win98 etc. Normally people also report their video card, but that is not hugely significant with Poser. Do you know how to look at your running processes? ::::: Opera :::::

Which version are you using? Have you downloaded the latest updates? I had Poser 4, upgraded to 5; have a 3 year old computer and I have several programs running along with Poser and am on the internet...so I wouldn't think that should be a problem for you. :)

Go here for some tip on how to make Poser5 run better http://poserpros.daz3d.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=43 especially the tutorial on how to remove ContentParasite which is the biggest cause of slow loading in Poser5.
