The image is only a test shot. WB was set using white cardboard and incandescent lighting. Note the blue tint to the cats breast. After taking the pic and viewing it, I realized lots of daylight was coming in the windows. So, I screwed up and set the WB to incandescent, ingoring the total ambient light. How would you set White Balance for a shot indoors with some sun coming in the room? Sure, to set it at the place the image would be taken would be nice but not predictable with animals. I know I left the window light out of the balance..my mistake. Would backeting help? What would you do..set a WB and put the camera down, ready in case a decent image was there? I do need some advice. The new camera is super but the fine points are being overlooked... and that is me. Time to learn..time to learn not to rush it. Advice on White Balance in a mixed light environment? All or any words will be appreciated. Peace to All. TomDart.

In such a case I certainly would shoot RAW. That way you can always change the WB to what you need it to be.

After the advice on RAW from you folks the last few days...I am beginning to get the point. Point and shoot RAW. Thanks for the obvious I had missed totally in this set. Tom.

In some graphic software, there is a function to remove "color cast" you use an eyedropper tool on the area and it will correct the cast (to white or grey) But RAW allows you to modify ALL KINDS of setting and may be the way to go! (Just remember RAW images are HUGE and eat up more memory card space!) Joe

This is originally a raw image, taken as a quick "snapshot" a few minutes ago. I realize the value of raw..not for production and volume but for me..I am not into volume images. Forgive the image flaws...posted to say thanks to all who commented. BTW, this is the old Maine Coon girl kitty who sleeps next to my chest each night. She can't jump anymore but still likes to look around a bit in the yard for critters when I am there with her. Thanks very much! Lens was Sigma 18-130mm f3.5, something like that. It did take a download from Adobe a week ago to get the plugin for Nikon nef raw. Yes, I do like raw. God Bless and Peace to All. Tom.
