An update with many changes, here. Changes the tower (postern gates) entrances, and re-designed the main gate with a portcullis in mind. A portcullis is a large, vertical dropping gate which can mechanically be lowered very quickly, in the case of a battle... And basically finished up the main modeling for this wall setup. I made all the upper doors and steps. Now I will model the inner keep, which should be equally complex. And add flags, banners, and torches to the existing structure. This whole model, made in Rhino of course, has a mere 204,000 polys when imported into Bryce. Render is done with the standard light dome, took aobut an hour to render this in Bryce... Any new ideas? A million polygons isn't a problem at all, my last castle scene had closer to 50 million (non-terrain polys, by the way... Bryce calculates terrain polys in a very different way...). But some torches and flags aren't going to add up to much, hopefully I can keep this gate down in size so I can expand it. I plan on having several of these in the final image... Thanks for all the commenting, my friends! Working on a textured render for ya, just as soon as I finish this silly car job. See ya...

I really like how the castle looks culturally different from European castles. Its almost asian, but not quite. Excellent work.

You did this in Rhino? ack! And I was about to complement you on your Bryce modeling skills. Now if one of those towers tops was filled with water - make a nice swimming pool. Some far-eastern influences here methinks. Can't wait to see the finished render. (as long as it's in Bryce)

(grins at Bryster) Aye, I'll do my initial render in Bryce, and see how far we can take it. I also set up the Rhino file for use with Maya, we'll see how far that scene goes as well. I'm using this as a training scene for my transition between Bryce and Maya... Sorry to blaspheme, but it's gotta happen...
