Subject: Realistic Lightning???

The bolt needs to be light blue, in my opinion, and have a bit more glow.

The trunk is too thick in my opinion. And yes, the color should be more white-blue than yellow. Maybe the light in the foreground is too bright for a lightning like that. My 2 cents of course!

What they said, plus a point light with the lens flare turned off in the middle to light up the surroundings.

And for the cherry on top, place a sphere primitive at the top of the bolt prop, stretch it and flatten it to suit, and add a cloud material to it and fiddle with the shape and transparency until it matches the sky. And if you want to show the strike points, and have Vue 5, then place a cylinder under each stike point, give it a glowing material in the correct color, then carefully sink it into the ground (or whatever) so that only a tiny sliver is visible; enough to see, but not enough to identify it as a prop.
