I had just finished working on this image this afternoon when I received a call from my Mom back home letting me know that my aunt had just passed away unexpectedly.

This is the woman who instilled in me my love of Science and infused me with my undying love of the Baltimore Orioles. The schoolteacher who knew that sometimes it was far more important to play hooky from school in order to see the O's play the Yankees. A woman who understood me and believed in me often times more than I believed in myself.

I tried to call her today to find out how she was doing and to see what she thought of this year's Orioles. I didn't know it, but she was already gone. And I didn't even get the chance to say goodbye.

Life isn't even close to being fucking fair.

I'm going to go away for awhile. Take care of one another.
