Subject: Bringing 2D images to 3D....

To answer some recent questions, and also just for fun, I thought I'd share part of a commercial project I'm working on. These scenes are to display the Honda S2000, an old convertible from eons ago. A challenge to make it seem classy, but I figured with the right tools it could be done... Initially, I received a bunch of photos of the S2000 in various locations, from a driveway to a seaside, six shots in all. Two were nearly identical, and one had reflections so heavy as to make it nearly useless for compositing. (The trees in the reflections would always contrast with the environment, unless that environment was a forest...) So here are some of the projects I did today, alas I can't share the source images but I'll share the alpha channel for anyone curious about that part of things...

And the fourth Bryce-based image... Same scene initially, with a whole lot of tweaking on terrain size and placement, and the first S2000 image instead. Also, different materials on the terrains and of course a different POV.

I love the fact that you got sand on the tyres in the beach scene, shame the tracks in the sand don't quite work. 9/10 The other images are awesome though. Well done.

Last one definitely looks the best to me - really looks pretty good. I always found trying to match the lighting/evironment to the lighting/reflections on a 2d object damn difficult.

Dreams are just nightmares on prozac...

this is fantastic!! starting to make sense now wonderfully put together too thank you
