Unsolicited means you don't need an agent contact, or an invitation from the publisher. The Penguin Imprint DAW is currently accepting unsolicited manuscripts in the area of Science Fiction and Fantasy. Theyve stated that they want novels of 80,000 words or more. Members frequently ask me how many words (or pages) publishers want in a manuscript. I let them know that publishers vary in their word/page requirements. Some dont reveal their preference. But DAW has done that here, making it clear to authors before they submit their manuscript. Submit a query letter to, Manuscripts Editor, DAW, 14th Fl, 345 Hudson St., New York, NY 10014. This is well worth checking out if this is your area of fiction writing. Novels only...no short story collections. Read the submission guidelines!! This lead is from SPAWN (The Small Publishers, Artists, and Writers Network), which is a good resource for all kinds of interesting information.dialyn posted Wed, 02 March 2005 at 4:00 PM

ooooo!! Cool! Too bad my Sci-Fi one I threw on the shelf four years ago. Maybe after I finish my current novel I'll have to go back and revisit. Thank you for sharing! :)
