My potential client uses an engineering program called solid edge, which exports in the following formats :igs .jt .sat .stp .x_b .x_t .xgl .plmxml .bkm .asm he did an animation (solid colors) with the complete machine, we now want to make it more "marketing oriented" and need to upgrade the rendering, hence we want to bring it into carrara3 (thats what I use)....any experience out there with the above formats? and how to bring it into carrara?

I have used .iges in C4 Pro, if you want to import it in C3 you need to buy CADstyle. That is $ 299,- BUT, it would be smarter to upgrade to Carrara 4 Pro, the download version is $ 189.00 and CADstyle is integrated in that. Good luck!

There might be some conversion possibility too, online or via software, but not a lot good stuff in this area comes for free. I have been searching for hours before...

I've not tried it - and after a quick look I don't think it will load the file formats you're after [sorry :-(] - but I,m posting the link in case it's of interest.
