This is a poser 2 figure that I'm using the Micheal hair on that was converted to P4 hair. Thank you Zygote! I need to scrounge around on my hard drive to find the original texture maps for the skin and coat so I can give proper credit to this artist! Marque

Heya Marque, very very nice. Folks tend to discount those poor old low res figures as having little or no use - except as extras in crowd scenes. I think you just killed that notion. And Greeg72 is right, killer background as well!!!

Ack, sorry! She's actually a poser 3 figure...doh! Marque

LOL! Well, it is still a great pic. I guess my Last Venusian pic will just have to remain as the sole tribute to this once noble and now almost extinct figure. Sigh Can we have a moment of silence for the passing away of the low res P2 people now, please. :o)

How do I load the poser 2 people? Marque

In the Poser Character Libary there should be a folder called Poser 2 Lo (also a Poser 2 Hi and a Poser 4 Lo) The figures require their own textures and the mesh is not as detailed as the Poser 3/4 characters. In large scenes, the figures are useful as extras because they do not gobble up a lot of resources. As for the Poser 3 characters, I like them in some ways better than the P4 and still occasionally use them in my pics. The girl in my Unicorn pic was a P3 figure.

Thanks Dizzie! It was driving me crazy! Usually I put stuff I download in a folder with the artist's name but I didn't on his and thought I'd remember it....right! lol Marque

Marque ...very nice. shadownet, what specifically do you like about P3? just wonderin' I feel I should you low rez as much as I can on principal... my stand against bloatware.

Momodot, first off let me say that my remark about still liking the P3 is not meant to compare the two and say the P3 is better in some areas than the P4. They are basically the same mesh I believe, with mostly the uv mapping and a few minor changes in the mesh being the big changes I believe. Ofcourse, I am no expert here so I could be wrong on all accounts. So I am not comparing the two and trying to say one is better than the other. It is more a matter of the old and new colliding. I stated out with Poser 3 and I still like to use the P3 figures in some things for a few reasons. For one, the P3 figures looks like the P4 but is smaller in file size so they uses less resources in large projects, and all the hair and clothes will work with them so that is not an issue. There is a P4 model someone did that stripped out the extra stock morphs and it is even smaller in files size than the P3. Absolute-Zero I think it was called. I use it also. One difference to me between them, and it could just be my imagination, but to me the eyes on the P3 figures seem to map better and look better than on the P4. Now this is not as true as it was now that Bushi, Nerd, and others have taken to doing the real eye bit. Also, I still have textures for the P3 that I like so that is another reasons And, again it may be only my imagination, but to me seam lines in textures showed up less on the P3 model than on the P4 due I imagine to the difference in how the two are uv mapped. Ofcourse, the P4 allows for high res textures, especially for the head. So there is always a trade off I suppose and I do not know if you could ever get those photo quality textures for the P4 to ever work/look as good on a P3 without remapping it along the lines of the P4. Obviously this is an area I know very little about and may be totally wrong about what I just said. Anyhow, those are some of examples of what I meant. If I thought a bit harder I could probably come up with a few more. Nothing earth shattering, and no reason to give up the P4. Mostly just me flapping my gums about being slow to let go of the old in place of the new. :o)

I use Poser for doing storyboarding for illustration and a comic I'm working on, that I draw by hand. I have to say I DEFINATELY prefer using the low-res models for this. They're easier to pose, and gobble less memory/hard drive space. I generally pose them nude and add my own clothes when I draw. I only use the high-res for close-up or "attitude" shots; I use it to help me get a feeling for the character I'm going to draw, and help me decide what s/he looks like.
