...then you duck, and I run around behind you, only to find it's hit a poor old woman selling apples to pay for the Health and Welfare shortcomings of the Bush administration.

I pick the gauntlet up, wiping it clean of my fingerprints. After dialing 9-1-1, I cover her as best I can, turning to see if you all are still there.

You are.

You all walk towards me, malice in your eyes. I raise my hand, halting the advance. I am tall, and you sense psychosis.

"Hear me, scribblers" I say, "This woman is of little consequence in the grand scheme of things..."

You begin to howl like baboons, uttering phrases like "life is sacred" and "have you no soul, man?"

It is then I tell you about the March Challenge in the Challenge Forum. About how you (yes, writers, even you) can piece together some words and enter.

"We have let the visial artists have their way for too long. I have put a 'written' out there for judgement. Who among you has the courage to join me?" I say.

(and......scene)

...errr....I meant "visual artists"...maybe I was going to say "viscous"......sticky, gooey, gummy, tasty they are... but that's a different forum...

Hey, I like this! But we be all artists whether by photoshop or pen. Shall we but feign letting blood, for loath am I to harm even one who by heart is a cousin. If thou beist circumspect, and hood thy barb in a merry note, why! methinks, 'twill be sport even for sombre miens who groan under the yoke of darkling thought. Or shall we, even as Robin's merry men, plant a pun or two 'twixt the virtual canvases?

Is no a blood sport, but a goodly challenge for ladies and gentlemen both. Imaginings of all types welcome in sweet pursuit of the muse. The prize is the satisfaction of the competition. A joyous festival of talent, we should imagine it to be. Welcome one, welcome all.

Where are you guys getting this violent imagery?
"I have put a 'written' out there for judgement."
It's a challenge. Not a call to arms.

"feign letting blood"?
"Is no a blood sport"?

Choose well your words lest others think us Plantagenet in aspect.

Remember always, the pen is mightier than the sword.

Unless you're trying to open a can of beans.

g'x

I believe that was my point. Dull as it was. :)

Ah! Pun-dits abound!! How I rejoice! Forgive me for seeming lily-livered. 'Tis the suspicious world we live in... but seriously, I'll be posting up in the challenge soon. There's a prolix one already out in the gallery, probably be a strain to chew. Ha! But I'm just beginning...

I am sOOoo confused ;] AAAAAAAaaaaahhhhhhhh - but ... that seems to be my normal state of mind lately - hehe.

Yo! Pardon the intrusion, and forgive me for sounding like a doofus, but I'm rather slow to figure things out around here. Your gauntlet has been deleted, or is that my imagination? I was going to post something up, and then couldn't figure out what happened. What happened? Or is the gauntlet still out there?

garblesnix posted Mon, 14 March 2005 at 11:38 AM

hanevi: It's still there, as far as I can see. If not,...well, it was just my silly attempt to get writers involved in other forum challenges. It's good to take our eyes off the blank page. That is not from whence comes inspiration. sometimes so very full of myself, g-to-the-arble-to-the-snix

dialyn: Don't know what happened. I deleted some old stories, but.... I will resubmit the March Challenge. Thanks for the heads-up. 'x

I was just concerned. You are one of my favorite writers around here...you have a unique voice and I would miss you greatly if you chose to stop posting.

It's ok G. 'It's good to take our eyes off the blank page. That is not from whence comes inspiration.' Is this yours? May I quote it? I keep searching for stuff you've written-you're quite an amazing writer. Cheers! :)
