Dog, Arch, Torches, Drawbridge, water, castle and .... boat. Naff huh? I was still playing, and I sort of... looked in a different direction. The dog looks a bit odd at this angle. Fran

You've got Phil hidden in here somewhere? Oh, that drawbridge! Seriously though, the stone tex is much better, and scaled just right IMO. I had a dog that looked odd at any angle. I also had a tortoise-shell cat that had a patch of color that made it look like she had both eyes on one side of her head. I named her Picasso.

If Phil's there, he must be UNDER the drawbridge! (gg) Stone is now at 20% (it was 4%) It still looks weird on straight sections of wall though, but I'm angling it so you can tell that.... until I've moved and I can get to Bryce 5, which hopefully will be waiting for me. What's the dog's name? Mine is a Border Collie, affectionately called "Jazzy"... or Jazzywazzykins... or Jas... or... basically he's Jasper. No particular reason, I just liked the name. My dog before that was a Heinz 57 varieties called Shane... which might have something to do with my penchant for westerns. (gg) But what can I do about the shadows - or lack of them - on this dog. Hmmm, I'll have to do some digging through some of the old postings here. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that TheBryster had a very similar problem in a picture, but I can't recall how they fixed it.

Fran, a few things to check, or check again if you already have: Is the dog a 'real' 3D object or is it a picture? The dog does still have depth in all dimensions right.(He's not .01 bu in the x axis for example) The dog is actually on the walkway and not floating above it. (check from a side view) The shadow isn't hiding behind the cylinder lying across the doorway. Try this, select the dog, only the dog, and go into solo mode. (lower right corner of the screen, 5 buttons look like a vcr, the center one hides everything not selected) create a plane directly under the dog, and give it matte_grey or some other basic texture. The lights in the scene, although not in solo mode with you, still cast their light. Do some renders from different angles and see if the shadow is somewhere unexpected. At some point you should change the material on the dog to a preset just to double check that. I can't remember what all you said in the other thread so I might have repeated something you've tried. Skip all that, can you post a screen grab of the dogs material settings?
