OK, who's Bot-Boi? Where do we get him?

Smoovie posted Sat, 12 March 2005 at 4:54 PM

Will we see some head and body morphs to? What about props?

Thanks netherworks :) constantine_1234, bot boi was a limited time newsletter freebie, from Netherworks. He can be purchased though at netherworks site, 3D commune, or here. Don't know if he is at poser pros or not.

Thank you very much! :)

He's available at PoserPros too. I won't get into product talk as it isn't appropriate here but yes, there will be some toys and perhaps morphs for him - some free and some purchasable. There will be a Bot-Grrl too. Just have to come up with a design that I'm happy with.

Thanks y'all. Oh and if you post a render of him somewhere, shoot me a link. I love to see him being used. He always makes me laugh.

Thank you... being able to morph the antennae will really help with reading body language. :)

Netherworks posted Sun, 13 March 2005 at 1:12 AM

Caroly, it has ERC control in the base segment - what would you like to see beyond that? :)

hauksdottir posted Sun, 13 March 2005 at 6:53 AM

kinks for being frazzled? (like a bad hair day) I'm not going to ask for pretzled or knotted, but maybe a simpler way to indicate confusion? And, of course, some way to indicate "reception" like listening to radio or getting an idea (spark? glow?) He's a cute character because so much emotional information is obvious. R2D2 was basically a wastecan in comparison, so all his emotional dialogue had to come from sound effects. Bot-Boi doesn't even require animation to get a point across, just good body language. :) Carolly

Netherworks posted Sun, 13 March 2005 at 7:13 AM

Carolly (sorry I misspelled your name before), you mean you'd like to see more ERC controls for the antenna? Like wavey ones and different bzzt-type ones?

I will probably do a full morph pack along the lines of what I have for Aiko, Laura and so forth if people would be interested in that. And I could include more antenna things with it.

We probably should move this to PM or email if it turns into product talk, because I think a full pack would warrant it being a product (I have to eat too ;) LOL!) I'll start a thread at Netherworks Studios support forum as well and please do make suggestions.

I would like to be able to change the head shape and body type. How about some baby bots, and girl bots?

WadeTripp posted Mon, 14 March 2005 at 10:29 AM

It is a little annoying trying to keep up with all these projects. I got the bot via renderoisty, but if I had not been looking though the forum. ( something I have time to do around three times a month ) I would have never seen this. Perhaps an e-mail to those who purchased it about the freebie would be useful.

Netherworks posted Mon, 14 March 2005 at 10:55 AM

WadeTripp, All I can say is that I do update my website regularly and Bot-Boi does have his own freebie section so perhaps It may be a good option to check there once a month. I too, would have to take additional time to email all my customers from 3 brokerages as well as those who purchase direct and then probably half of those emails wouldn't make it due to changed addresses or spam filters. I had done this with a product update in the past and unfortunately there were so many returned addresses that it created an error and the rest of the emails weren't sent so I had to go back and figure out who did and didn't get the notification. It was a real mess.
