I just bought the Clothes Converter from DAZ. After installation, the program asks you for a user name and security key. None of the documentation that came with the program provided this, or even an email with which to contact the company, Capoeira Software, to find out how to register and get one. The man I spoke to at DAZ told me to look in the PDF manual included with the program, but it does not come with any information other than telling me that a security key "will be provided" -- BY WHOM? It doesn't say that, and again, doesn't provide an email for the company.
I'm assuming that other people here are using this product and have gotten past this stage of the installation. Who do I contact to get my security key?
Mike

Contact markdc (nickname on Renderosity) and the problem will be resolved. markdc helped me out when I bought one product and the update to another (don't ask) and had a security issue problem with both. There is also a forum which has been set up to ask questions...the information links should be in the readme file or instructional file you got with the product.

There are literally no useful links anywhere in the documentation. There is no "readme" file, just a PDF file that tells you how to use the program. It gives you instructions on what to do when you have your key, but doesn't tell you where you go to get it. I've never had this problem before with any software ever where you were given almost no information about who to contact should trouble arise. I'll try markdc. Thanks. Mike

Sorry, I am not at my house so I couldn't check what came with my program. I was guessing (never a wise idea). I do have the link to the support forum, however. It's a miracle!dialyn posted Mon, 14 March 2005 at 1:50 PM

Just a thought but was the lisence key listed on your Daz account page ?
dialyn posted Mon, 14 March 2005 at 2:32 PM
Well, looking at my account page, I don't see it there. Mine was sent to me.
dialyn posted Mon, 14 March 2005 at 2:34 PM
Oh, I bet you weren't asking me that question. Sorry.

It could simply be that markdc will be emailing you the link manually. He may have been emailed the sales notification but is not at his desk at the moment. He may even sleep for some hours of the day :)
He's a good egg, I'm sure he will attend to it in a timely fashion.

Look in the zip you downloaded from DAZ - there should be a .txt file with the name and serial number in it.
egaeus posted Mon, 14 March 2005 at 3:11 PM
There is not txt file. I think that would defeat the purpose of a security key because everyone would get the same one. I went through the zip with the guy from DAZ, read through each file name, and have done the same with the program file Clothes Converter sets up on my system. Nor is there any such entry on my DAZ accounts page. I'm assuming PhilC is right and he's probably going to send me one. I've written him and am still awaiting his response. I do find it somewhat irritating, but I suppose I'll have to be patient. Mike

Ok the one I bought here had the registration number in the package. Going to re-instll it and install the upgrade I bought from Daz, (hopefully it will work) and use that number if it asks. Wonder why he changed it. Maybe wants more control over the s.n. which makes sense. Marque
Marque posted Mon, 14 March 2005 at 7:04 PM
The s.n. was listed in a notepad file with a user number. If anyone is upgrading it works. If you need the support area let me know and I will get it to you. He gives good support for his products but may not have gotten the message that you bought it if you got it over the weekned. Marque

Well, your folder looks completely different from mine. I don't have that txt file, nor is there a ClothesConverter.ini file. There's no txt file anywhere. I bought the product this morning and I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that someone who is in business -- a relatively small one with more personal oversight -- would have the courtesy to answer about a problem with his product. I've yet to hear back from Markdc. I make no judgement as far as how good a guy he is, but I find his customer service lacking. Mike

Well, my copy is V1.2 - Likely you bought 2.0 and there'll be differences in the installation. Have you tried the support forum at the link dialyn posted (post 4 above)? I can understand your frustration at having to wait before using your purchase, but I know if I were a DAZ vendor (or any other kind), I wouldn't plan my life to be at my computer 24/7 in case of a question or problem. I bought 2 of markdc's other utilities here at RMP, also, and rec'd unlock keys via EMail within 48 hours. Not unreasonable. I'm not trying to apologies for him - don't know him, myself, but I didn't see a day or 3 turnaround in providing keys as a dereliction. I've seen a LOT worse - and that's with products with actual support staffs, rather than one talented person working what's almost certainly just a sideline.
RHaseltine posted Tue, 15 March 2005 at 8:48 AM
egaeus, are llooking in the zip file or in the folder in Program Files to which it installed - the text file is in the zip, it doesn't get copied to the installation folder. If you buy the upgrade version you don't get a new user name/serial number, just reuse the one from version 1.
egaeus posted Tue, 15 March 2005 at 9:11 AM
I have looked in every single possible folder -- those created when installed and the original zip prior to installation -- several times. There simply is no txt file anywhere. I bought the full version of 2.0. I didn't buy the upgrade version. I have checked all of these things.

Well, I guess it was a mistake to purchase over the weekend...Just broke down and purchased a copy too but, like Egaeus, DAZ only send an e-mail with the header "Serial Number" but it contained NO serial number information? And there is no txt included with it...guess I'll just have to wait several days for a reply to unlock my purchase...but then it will be the work week again and no time to play :*(

Glad you found yours. No sign of mine and I bought it March 7 so he's had plenty of time to send it. My old one is considered a temp s.n. Have an email in to him but nothing yet. Where did you say you saw it on your account page? Thanks, Marque
Marque posted Thu, 21 April 2005 at 10:27 PM
Just redownloaded the file and no s.n. What a pain. Marque
