I don't own a copy of poser... yet. I do however work some in Bryce, but find myself in Truespace more and more. Now.. when I've created models in TS and imported them into Bryce, I find that they are very faceted. That is, something that looks smooth in TS doesn't look all that good in Bryce. I believe Poser was once Metacreations as well, so the rendering engine might be the same. Not sure. Anyway.. to the offer. I would like someone who does have a copy of poser to import a couple models to see how they are handled. If they come out looking ok, I might just be prompted to create a few props for the free area. :)

I've sent you a couple files. Since I'm at work, I can't pull e-mail from the 'reply' address on that e-mail. If you could post your results here.. :) or I can reply again once I get home. - Rim

heyas; did you use the bryce smoothing option for your imported objects? and no, bryce and poser dont use anywhere near the same rendering enginges! :) poser doesnt even use ray tracing. anyway, rim, create props in obj or 3ds format, they wont just be for poser folks. though we can use them. :) thanks!

Have to admit that I totally forgot to edit/smooth the object. just tried the same object I sent to Helen.. actually came out pretty close to what TS rendered. Now of course, the shaders/materials don't always transport across.. but that's normal. laughs. Thanks for the tip.. and.. I guess this means you might start to see some props from me soon in the free-stuff. -Rim

if they are obj's run them through uvmapper and hit the "insert" key that'll get rid of the black spots/degenerate facets........Steve

Helen, Thanks for the testing BTW. Simple object I admit.. but worth the test run.

You're welcome to it. There are a couple more on my site, but I think I only have the COB format there. I have to double check on the curtain that is there as well, to make sure I exported more then the rod/rings. And as I said, there will be a lot more coming. :)

A Poser utility call compose in Freestuff will convert cob to obj format. I haven't used it for that yet, but the two file ext for compose are cob and obj, so I'd assume you can load up a cob file and save it out as an obj file.
