Paris Book Fair to open amid global publishing boom PARIS (AFP) - The Paris Book Fair opens Friday amid a global boom in the publishing trade, flouting all the direst predictions of sci-fi writers that the advent of a digital world would spell the end of the written word. "Books are becoming more democratic. Fewer than nine percent of homes had no books in 1997, compared with more than a quarter in 1993," wrote French author Laurence Santantonios in his newly-published essay "As long as there are books". Waaaaaaaaaaaa - Now I want to go to Paris :) Hey - isn't Paris suppose to be amazing in the Springtime?? Thanks so much for the link dialyn :) Do you know of any book fairs or conventions that will be coming to upstate NY this summer? I know there are a ton in NY City - but that is a little too far to travel. Dee-Marie
