In Xfrog you have various ways to bend a trunk: you can use the dedicated spline, or you can apply gravitropism to it, or you can even use an attractor (although this would be an "overkill") - not to mention deviation (for smaller/subtler changes. There is nothing to really "learn", just modify one of those things and see what happens. Export the model from Xfrog as 3DS or (if you use embedded alpha in the maps) as LWO, and you will be able to import into Vue smoothly.
