Well it cleared a little today and was able to shoot some photos at lunch. This is the only one I have processed yet. Can anybody tell me what type of bird this is? Thanks!

Naahh those are Yellow, and have a very distinct call...." I think I saw a Puddy Kat"

That looks the eastern form of the Tufted Titmouse.... the southern form has a black crest.... and the Plain Tit, which has no black at all..... you may notice by summer that the feathers under the wing area will turn orange as the weather warms and mating season arrives.....

This is "tit birds" of the feathered kind. I haven't seen a poser model for this one. The Tufted Titmouse is a regular around here with Carolina Chickadees, hanging around like birds of a feather. They "almost" eat out of my hand but fuss if I stand on the deck too long(with rails covered in sunflower seeds at exactly 7am). Neat little birds, will sit in a tree and squauk( who can spell that?) at the cats in the window. Tom. BYW, good pics. Meant to say that at the first.

Tom - Interesting, because as you see in my post yesterday it was a photo of a chickadee, and today a Tufted Titmouse. I see these around my feeder together, but never knew they where like buds(friends) and all.

These birds are the closest of friends. Glad you noticed! They generally grab a bite and take it to a tree branch to finish it. They generally do not hog the feeder..grab a bite and leave..come back for more. Neat birds.

awwwwwwww. this guy is sooooooo precious!!! LOL! and i could have sworn this was a baby blue jay!!! ah well, i told you i don't know much about birdies!!! i just love them to pieces!! seeing this one brings tears to my eyes. dunno why. sometimes when is see birds that happens. i love both versions actually!! and that frog photo is perfect!!! :)

Tom - You know your birds, that is exactly how these guys eat. Swoop down grab a seed and gone. Makes it hard to get a good shot, they are so fast. I have taken some in the tree they fly to, which is right next to the feeder, but I like this shot better. jocko - Thanks! Doug - When I purchased this one a couple of weeks ago, I purchased a sheppard's hook to hang it from so the squirrels couldn't get in it. Now the squirrels hang around and eat what the birds drop. I must say that I am surpised how popular my little feeder has become. FearaJinx - Thanks, cropping is good, but I am afraid the tight crop would not make a very good print, much over a 4x6. I like to get at least a 5x7 or 8x10. Shelia - Here is a tissue, did not mean to make you cry.

Shepard's hook? You mean like one of these? Give it a few days...... they are persistent little guys.

lol - I was gonna mention what Michelle has demonstrated!! I saw a great wildlife program over here where they started off with a bird table which the squirrels got to. They made it harder to get to until the squirrels did it, then added another stage for them to get by etc etc. Things like tubes with a gate in the middle and a switch for them to hit which opened the gate for a few seconds, that sort of thing. Over a month or so they ended up learning about 10-15 of these challenges!! Yup, they'll suss THAT one quick enough, but you should get some good shots out of it ;-) (",)

I bought squirrel proof feeders, not shown in this photo.... uhh yeah right..... guess what....

I've strung feeders between two trees, high up off the ground.... and they still managed to jump up and get to them...

I've given up.... I just buy lots of seed now..... LOTS of seed. I'm feeding a family of 10 squirrels, 3-4 chipmunks who also have figured out how to shimmy up the poles and about a bazillion birds....

Michelle....Do you have the ones where if the weight of anything more than a small bird will cause the doors to close down on the feeder opening.

Yes I did..... but the squirrels managed to break it, the were jumping on it so much that the springs broke, and then even the birds couldn't feed from it! LOL!

I sure get a lot of weird stuff growing under the feeders now. Note to feeders. Keep them a good long distance from your vehicle.

The squirrels tried though, they scale across the clothesline it's on... then hang upside down and snatch the seeds. Haven't for awhile,because the person across street gives out peanuts now. LOL
