Subject: My Earth....

Ok I took a different approach from the earth below. This one uses Textures, but I made them myself. Its probably my biggest piece in terms of textureing. It has a ton of layers. It is part of an open animation...later I will do a manuever will I zoom onto its surface. I found a cool solution to that problem, so when its done I'll post up an .mpg so you tell me what you think. The coolest part of this earth is that I scaled a huge cloud so it can have dynamic weather. Iam not animated the clouds tho b/c If I do it incorrectly I wont have time to redo it. It will be a nice toy to play with later tho :) Any any suggestions are welcome...the background is keyable so nothing can go there. I cant do any drastic changes but I can do some minor ones. Now I just have to wait until monday..this thing is takeing over 7 min a frame..I cant wait for C to support duel processing.

Brent - Looks nice! 7 min per frame!!!!!!!!!!! Yikes. What size is the animation? What type of system are you on...CPU and meory. I am curious. ;) Clint

OK that 7 minutes was on my computer @ work..p3 500 with 256megs of ram. HOWEVER..for some reason that computer keept giving me a nil pointer error after it rendered frame 2 of the animation. I went home and reinstalled it on my home pc and it works..dont know why..but @ home on an athlon tb 900 with 128megs of ram its takeing just under 3min a frame. I bought another 128megs of ram this week but I guess I have to wait for this animation to finish rendering tomorrow b4 I can use it :) btw: in my new tiger direct catalog pc133 256meg ram sticks are only 125bucks......makes me mad I just bought a 128megs....

OK - That sounds better on the Athlon! Yea - Prices are getting nice and cheap. ;) Clint
