Sheila, check around the lens for a thin thread on the camera body. It's not always obvious at first glance, as shown by the pic of mine above. If you have a thread then you should be able to find a tube *somewhere*, even if it needs an adapter ring for some filters. At just 10 ($15?) mine's paid for itself just protecting the lens! (",)

good morning Mike! i looked several times, and i think mine has that thin thread. i've attached a link to a pic of my cam. perhaps you'll be able to tell. we already have an adapter ring for filters but i don't know anything about a tube. i will need to explore that further to see if i can find something like that. Thanks a bunch!!!!! :)

even my Oly5050 has one... the cost of the tube, the adapter & the polarizer lens cost up to 90$ for me... ack! ...but it was a gift for my Oly4000... another reason I stuck to getting another Oly when mine crashed & burned :]

I must have missed something here but...what's a "tube" for??

well, you know on an SLR you have the screw bit at the front for putting your filters on?

Well, on a digi that has an extending lens, you screw a metal tube on so the filter can be screwed on - in front of the lens then, obviously.

In the pic, from top to bottom : Polarizing filter; Adapter ring to accept 49mm filters ; tube.

btw, if your gonna use a ring, wherever possible I'd advise to use the right size filters on it INSTEAD of an adapter ring to make smaller ones fit.... using them like mine, above, sometimes ends up with vignetting, and when taking a photo you have to visually crop smaller to allow for this on the final image.
