I made a character using the long blond curls that come in Poser. I then tried to color them black, but no matter how I change the material settings for the hair, I can't get rid of the yellow. Any advice?

There are no yellow lights in the scene. They are all white.

Check the highlight color in the materials window. You would probably want a white highlight or a pale blue. Melanie

I tried it already. FIrst I had white for a highlight, then I just tried to eliminate the problem by making black the highlight, but that damned yello just won't go away! Argh!

texture map?

JGC posted Sun, 21 January 2001 at 9:06 PM

I thought of that, but I haven't tried it because creating textures is still rather new to me. Know of any tutorials that could walk me thru it?

I meant are you using a texture map - its colors can alter your render. Use a paint program to view it/ change it. Make a backup first, then go for it. Only what's within the lines will show up.

Ah. No, not using one, and the materials menu says there is none associated with it. If it helps solve the problem, here is more info. When I change the highlight color, there IS a change--the hair beneath the curls changes, while the curls all keep the yellow highlight. So the pic above is with a black highlight. It turns the majority of the hair and the "roots" black without affecting the curls. Sigh I'm about to give up on this one.

make sure you are changing the colors on all the parts on the materials menu (hair/default/preveiw) 4

I chose a dark grey highlight instead of white or blue. The white reflected too much and looked like pure plastic, and the blue was too dark for my taste. I decided to use a true greyscale highlight so it (the white) will reflect the lights around it more accurately and not make it look so plastic. Thanks again for everyone's input.
