It's been a long time since i saw several pictures in Bryce Hot 20 that seemed too simple for any Brycer to belong there...I simply thought then that these artists must have too meny friends here, or that some of them must have created many accounts to promote their efforts... Today i can see a rather worse picture there...At least half of the pictures are about an hour to create for any good Brycer of this community and some really fantastic artworks stay out of this chart most probably cause their artists does not have so many friends here. Today i saw the simplest Bryce picture i've ever seen with a simple globe and few other Bryce-ready features with 12 votes...I couldn't beleive that some fantastic pictures hardly get 4 or 5 and this one got 12...I have nothing with the artist who made it, he or she might be a great one or a great personality or with anyone else who deside to vote it, but for Christ sake this picture worths to be there? This community is one of the biggest - maybe the bigger - 3D place in the net...I think what's happening in Hot'20's is not the best not only for the community itself but for many great or other talented artists who spend their valuable time to create something really beautiful and find themselves with some "Wows" "Excellent" or "Congratses". What do you people think? Am i getting old and snivelling or is this a true situation here? Sincerely without any intention to offend anyone Kostas

most of us feel the same as you do, but it's something that's been going on for as long as I've been here so I don't really think it's ever gunna change.

What else is new. As it always was. It is not a subject that can really be discussed here. Make art for yourself and yoru freinds and leave the hot 20 alone.

Jup :) what Dann-O says, that's what we all do here. This subject is great for starting fights (even if it is not intended to start any conflicts it's still great for it lol) but never seems to result in any change of quality in the hot20.

It is the Hot20, images that have gotten the most votes in a 7day period. It is what it is, that does not mean it's the best there is in Bryce, nor the most creative artistically. So just ignore it....=)

All you can do is browse the galleries as much as you can and vote for the art that YOU believe should belong in the hot 20.

Ahhhhhh.. I First signed up at Rosity way back in 2000 and I have seen Stunning work that got in the Hot20... Now I went from over a 1000 views per pic down to What I think my latest got 75 views and I am not that good...So I know what ya are saying..I think it just boils down too... Who has more friends and then there are the ones who should be there all of the time...You all know who...

There has been many a quarrel about the so-called Hot 20 here that it has been recognized as one, together with politics and religion to be an explosive issue. In the end, most of us have come to the conclusion that the only way to change things there is for everyone of us to survey all the gallery entries on a daily bases and vote on the images you deem truly artistic enough to qualify in the Hot 20 forum. It then becomes a race in popularity and membership cloners (collectively known here as the Rainbow people). We further recognize that unless the art is directly against the TOS, to impose limitations is tantamount to censorship. Instead of paying heed to this infuriating farce, most here plainly see that it holds no merit or redeeming value for those people. We tend to recognize art when we see it and pay homage to it, and try hard to stay away from the Hot 20 topic.

Your best defense: 'Screw the corrupt system' Nothing can be done about peoples' feelings that images, no matter how crappy we may personally find them, should be placed in the hot 20. Believe it or not, those images earn their votes, so the only thing we can say to those who complain about their pic not making it in is 'Tuff'.

actually, i learned something from the "rainbow" people. i saw all these fractal balls that didn't look very well mapped, to me...so, i started looking at others in the bryce gallery that were using fractals, in my opinion, correctly. now, i want to learn to make a fractal and use it for a cool texture the way fractelaar does....i think that method could really produce some awesome creature skins :*)
Quest posted Mon, 28 March 2005 at 4:33 PM
LOLyes, most of us here have learned something from the Rainbow people also and that is how to tell bad art when you see it. Thats why most people here dont even bother keeping track of it. The Surgeon General has determined that it could be hazardous to your health. So on occasion, if you hazard a gander, you might be overwhelmed with nausea and get sick to your stomach by what you may see there. The remedy; abstain or vote!

Aye, I can't stomach the Bryce Hot 20 anymore, it nearly enrages me to view the garbage that floats through there. It's apparent to me that many people have no idea what 3D graphics are about, or they missed Jurassic Park, Terminator 2, and The Matrix altogether. Idiots. Please, do not ever vote for any of my pictures, ever. I don't think I could live with myself if I was in the same list with some of that crap. I would use stronger language, but my, "f" key isn't working, apparently. (grins)

Thanks Jocko, Everyone creates what they want, If they want to change their style or skill...it's up to them to ask & learn. I'm presently waiting on an order for Adobe Creative suite with an entire training Package....For some time it'll be 2D training for me. It's a career decision and I've come to like so much of what 2D can offer. Others here have moved onto other genres & packages, some are amazingly talented, yet they weren't when they started. They made a choice and moved with it. If you want to hang out in the space you're in....fine by me, if you want to move & I can help...No prob, just ask. Ugh! Nuff said.

ICM, its quite apparent that your work is never Rainbow quality and it goes without saying that the remarks expressed here does not apply to Bryce artists whose work is constantly over the top and cant be helped but to be in the Hot 20 out of sheer talent. The remarks do apply to those who constantly get into the Hot 20 not through talent but through fan-gangbang popularity voting and cloning themselves into multiple users and voting on their own shoddy work (the Rainbow people). You can hardly be compared to this category.
lordstormdragon posted Tue, 29 March 2005 at 6:37 PM
To me, it's quite simple. Just because Renderosity has no quality standards does NOT mean that I don't. I have even greater standards for myself than I do for other people, and I'm not trying to be self-righteous, I'm just a perfectionist. A double-edged sword, though : sometimes I just don't get the job done on time! But there are a few dozen Bryce-artists here that I admire, revere, and even arouse jealousy, who push me to do better and not settle for quick 10-minute scenes, and many of them visit these forums and help all of us improve. But for all you lowly Brycers out there who are content not even with mediocrity, but to drown yourselves in "Amazing Rainbow!" attitudes and pathetic, untextured Poser-people: Please, stay this way. There's enough competition in this industry as it is, and SOMEONE has to make shoddy enough work so as to make mine look good! Thank you, kindly, for sucking. Keep at it.

I get satisfaction of knowing that I have full intellectual property rights for my image. Many of these "Hot 20" people can't model their way out of a paper bag so rely on free stuff and other peoples models so they have no real property of their work. They must ast permissions. While someone like myself has full rights and gets to actualy sell things and make money at it. The rub is that I can't really post mor ehtan once a week or so because of the time involved in the creation of the image.

Aye, I can realte, Dann-O. These days, ya just can't crank out a few pictures a week anymore... Too much work involved. Also, it seems like the best scenes evolve over time, and take on their own life and their own schedules...
