For those of you that have been using poser professionally and as hobbyist there is a debate brewing on if Barron Vlad Vampirella outfit were used on this model?

In all honesty it doesnt matter to me, but its getting harder and harder to tell these days if its poser or not, which is a testament to the great art that can be created using the software.

Ahh you beat me to it :-) BTW the out fit can be found in poser freestuff Iplan on downloading it tonight at home and duplicating that artists image in Cinema4DXL

I have the outfit and it looks like it's the same. Umm ... can it be that this is V3? And if they use Poser stuff, why don't they just say it. Everyone and his uncle is going ohhh and ahhh and post wireframes ... I can post wireframes too, doesn't mean I have modelled the whole shebang. And the image is great, btw.

"I can post wireframes too, doesn't mean I have modelled the whole shebang." True, but if you're using a mesh like V3 or any of the unimesh figures, the wireframe will show it. Usually, modelers like to see the wireframe just to inspect the inner-workings of the creation, but it's also a tell-tale sign if you used Poser. For example, if the model was exported from Poser to (in this case) 3dsmax, you won't have the smoothed or unsmoothed "cage" version.

Okay, make way for the Vampi expert lol. Here's a scan from my comic collection - this is the cover of #19 (by Gonzalez) where this famous image first made it's debut. It was hugely popular and a couple of months later (in #21) it was offered as a poster. #19 which you see here was incidentally the first Vampi Album (1972). And on the right you see a very quick preview of Baron Vlad Harkonen's Vampirella Suit for Victoria 3 (for Poser). I have both the Vicki2 and Vicki3 versions, both are cut the same. Now it is entirely obvious that the render in this thread is not in any way based on the BVH suit - it is rather based on the Vampi original. Note the cut on the hip and at the lower belly, and also the curly collar (the #19 pic doesn't show it, but other Vampi originals do). I can't quite judge whether the image is down in Poser (unlikely) or if it is a Poser mesh rendered in another app - this may or may not be the case. Moreno's Vampi (the concept is apparently based on this Gonzalez rendition of Vampi) is not as leggy as Gonzalez' version, but then a number ot other artists (amongst them Frazetta) pictured Vampi as much shorter and curvier, so figurewise she is not in any way 'off'. Her coloring (swarthy skin) is off, for sure. Vampi 'should be' pale, as someone pointed out. Being a vampire. Her outfit is perfect. Her pose is good but the leg is a bit too far off - Vampi was always 'elegant' in her stance, never 'gauche'. Being a Poser guy myself, I have nothing against Poser renders or Poser meshes - so that is not an issue for me really- But I wanted to give you the info I have at hand. Whichever way you look at it, this is a very good render indeed. I also posted this info at CGTalk - but there I couldn't post the image. :] Fish

The comic book looks awsome, I'll see if my dad can get me some. Oh I think that is infact Barron Vlad's Vampirella outfit. I cant tell a difference.

"I cant tell a difference." Look at the golden "bat" symbol on the crotch, and the collar. Vlad's rendition does not match up with that render, nor does it match the original very much. They're not the same.

Also look at the way the top is connected to the hip. It's completely different than the one at CGTalk.

Wow that is one impressive image, thanks for the share! It really doesn't look like the BVH version, IMHO. Look at those shoulders...now THAT's how they are SUPPOSED to look. LOL

I don't know if anyone noticed but the artist posted wireframes. He also mentioned that he did not use Poser.

Looks like several of those Anti-Poser Natzi's have an appology to make. What is interesting is that they put themselves in the position to make an appology based on suggesting that Poser is not a valid tool to create art.

I think even the stanchest ant-poser CG bigot has to agree that in the right hands it can and has produced breathtaking results. Seems like the issue at hand with some of these poser-haters isn't that the program is incapable of producing good looking work, it's that most poser users arn't doing the modeling. Many of these folks do their own modeling, uv work, skinning, lighting and rendering and they look down on those of us who skip some of these stages by using pre-made meshes like Victoria. Quite frankly, I'd LOVE to be able to model something even CLOSE to what Daniel Moreno did with this piece, but I lack the skill and more importantly, the experience. Until I get there (if I ever do), I will continue to love Poser for what it is and what it allows me to do.

Excellent render! I don't think this is the BVH outfit though. I did a Vampirella render of the pose on Vampi 19 using V3 and the BVH outfit. Posed in Poser rendered in Lightwave.
