I don't know about the artifact on the head, but the problem with the floor can be fixed by making the ground plane visible (select the ground plane and check "visible"). This works in Poser 5 and should in Poser6 as I don't think this is one of the things they changed - but I don't have P6 yet, so I can't check.

The ground plane in P6 is "on" by default, but is set to "catch shadows only", which makes it display ground shadows only, while the rest is invisible on render, and will not "occlude" objects beneath it. You need to disable shadow catch in the material room for the ground, and attach a diffuse map (if you desire), which make it opaque. Message edited on: 03/28/2005 17:04

It is my understanding that to fix a lot of the things in 6 (and there are a few) you will need to be sure and have your video drivers and bios up to date.
Also try bringing your rendering down on the video card. I updated my video and with the new drivers I am able to allow the application to control the settings.
Might be worth trying.

I don't own P6 and I reserve the right to be mistaken but.... If the hair is a prop that is parented to the head, turn off the "bends with parent" option in the parent pull down. Another quick fix is to alter the rotation slightly. What you are seeing looks like sheer and it used to be common in 3d programs. I hope this helps, Bob

If the head artifact is part of one of the props you'll probably have to use the grouping tool to create a new prop without the extra polygons. It inflates with smoothing on because that's how polygon smooting works. You can turn the smoothing off for just that object, but you should try to fix the offending prop.
You'll probably want to work on the prop seperately, fix it then add the fixed prop to your scene.
The ground. If you want the ground to be visible in renders take the check of "Shadow Catch Only" for the ground in materials.
