Ok! Here's my prob! How do I crop an image without cropping parts that I don't want to crop and respect some silly standard formats??? I have to send an image that's going to be printed in 10cm x 10cm and I have no idea how to crop it in order to get that size! Know what I mean?? I have a pic that's 10cm x 9.64cm. U think it would be ok?? Help plz, it's for next month and I have to send that pic asap!! Thx in advance for ur help guys! :)

when you resize... you can try unchecking the option to "lock aspect ratio" & put your desired dimensions in... doesn't sound 9.64 to 10cm will make any noticeable distortion

What is the pic Pascal? You could resize it in without constraining the proportions and just change the 9.64 to 10. It depends on the image but the distortion might not be noticable. Or increase the size of the image so that the 9.64 becomes 10cm and crop the little bit extra off from the other measurement until you are back to 10 x 10. Without seeing the image or knowing what it is for, it is hard to say for sure. Hope that helps.

Pretty much. You will have to crop.

Yes but...I do NOT want to crop! That's the thing here!! But thx for the info though, I'm gonna try it on other images!! ;)

If it has to be 10 x 10 and the pic is a 4:3 ratio you have no option but to crop it. It is not possible as far as I know to resize an image from a rectangle to a square without distorting it.

Oh wow!! I've just tried it!! Didn't know I could do that with the crop tool!!! It's fantastic!! Thx so much for the tip Simon! :)
tibet2004uk posted Tue, 29 March 2005 at 3:53 PM
What's a 4:3 ratio?? What does it mean??
LostPatrol posted Tue, 29 March 2005 at 3:54 PM
You are welcome.
tibet2004uk posted Tue, 29 March 2005 at 3:55 PM
:D I'm not gonna do it on that specific image though! I like it the way it is and do not want to crop it!! I'll just send something else! ;)
LostPatrol posted Tue, 29 March 2005 at 3:57 PM
4:3 ratio is the ratio of the frame that most standard cameras use. Which is a rectangle. Medium/large format is normally square
TwoPynts posted Tue, 29 March 2005 at 3:58 PM
For example: 4 inches wide by 3 inches high = 4:3 ;)

I once had a cropping problem in Corel Draw. I made an appropriate white rectangular box and dropped that on top of the image in question and covered the area I didn't want to print. So easy!
tibet2004uk posted Wed, 30 March 2005 at 11:19 AM
I won't print the image myself Escafeld! I have to send it for printing! So it has to fit their standard format!
