Hi, I tried to render my image, just like i'm used to with resolution 4000px x 4000px @ 300dpi. This is in firefly mode. In de poser 4 mode i do not have any problems. Well Poser 6 Crashed. With a lower value it will do just fine. Is this normal? I hope not... :-( Any suggestions... TIA

What computer/memory - Im using a mac with 1 gB and the damm thing falls over every time I try and render anything over screen resolution - looks like a memory leak bug to me

It's not a leak, but there is a problem with P6 using too much memory. CL is working on fixing it.

i don't think i've ever gotten over 4 megapixels to render even on my amd 3000 in p5 ; (

In my P6 experiences so far rendering 1024x768, the computer appears to crash (no activity onscreen, not responding in the task manager) when in reality it's rendering. Requires LLLLLOOOOOOTTTTTSSSSS of time to do its thing. And no surfing the web on the same computer.

Eric thks for the info , Noticed it with itunes operating in the background - p6 was doing something that serious impacked all the memory - at least before it laid on its back and waved its legs in the air,- think I might reinstall poser 5 for the moment I think the moral is don't load version 1 of any software phil

Is this render for print? If not, render at 72dpi -- the extra resolution is wasted on renders for the net. IMO you should should reduce your Firelfy settings to the bare minimum of the features you want to use, then gradually increase them until you're happy with the quality. Also, P6's Firefly engine lets you reduce texture map resolution. Use it! Good luck.

I have all kinds of problems rendering in P6. I have never had difficulty rendering large images, but when I use more than a few models in the same composition p6 slows to a crawl. I have never had this kind of issue with p5. Heck the p5 texture shaded preview worked better with more than 2 models in the screen than the p6 box tracking does. I have a 2.6ghz p4 with 2gb ram. I had hoped that p6 would move faster than p5 now that it supports hardware acceleration, but that is not the case. If you pre-ordered p6 you got a good deal.......... eventually they'll probably release an update to make p6 more stable. If you didn't pre-order it DON'T BUY IT YET! It isn't ready. As hungry as you might be you'd complain if your pizza wasn't cooked. ............. and the p6 pizza is still thawing.

Tried various things last night, seems to be when the image size went over 1000 x 1200 pixels the program crashes half way through the render -it does the shadow part and just starts to draw the render then closes the program . Will be more scientific tonight - again this is a mac on OSX and 1.33 MHZ and 1 GB of ram . Thought it might be my Daz additions/addiction so I reloaded just the basic poser program and parts and still the same . Same figure and resolution fireflyed in poser 5 fine. On the up side I found where it keeps all those previous renders phil

tried again - can render up to 1500x2500 pixels , but only if poser 6 is the only application running . seems to be an issue of application switching. If I bring another application up then the render fails or if a application running in the background does something ( email arrive etc) . then the active render fails and the poser app quits . phil
