OK, I can plant trees all over a flat plane, but how do I do the same with a hillside?

The same way. Change the material you are using on the terrain to eco, pick your objects/plants, press populate and that is about it:) Or have I totaly missed the point here...lol

Exactly the same... 1. Create your terrain 2. Apply an eco material to it (or make your own) 3. Click "populate"
