Subject: P5: Rotate native 2D textures??

I'm 'working my way' trough learning the P5 Materials room. I do have substantial previous experience with script-based modelling (PovRay) so I am going trough a mix of the feast of recognition and the fustration of not finding/seeing the obvious.

I'm stuck on one thing. I am probably overlooking: How can I get the 'intrinsic' textures, such as 'brick' or 'tile' have another orientation towards my object's u/v axis? I can shift the pattern in u and v direction, but I do not see how to rotate it.

So, in short, how can I fill a standard one sided square with a diagonal pattern of tiles without using image/transparency maps, or slaving into highschool math and work out a complex thing with sines and cosines and other math stuff, which would be overly complex and probably terribly slow to render?

Any help appreciated

I would like to know this also. I end up in photoshop for things like this but I've wondered if there was a quick and dirty way to do it.

There is no easy way... or i don't know it. Some many thread ago, there was a complicated shaders to rotate an image map... I'm trying now to apply it to an other node...

And yes... it works if the node you are using has the "U_Offset" and "V_Offset" (image_map, tile, brick and movie, but not the weave node). You can find the material template in this thread (link above). Go to post 8 for the screen shot (very impressive ;-) ) and to post 11 to download the P5 Material file.

Very impressive indeed. I will try it out and give it a prominent place in my 'tips and tricks' collection. I do not dare even to think about rotating 3-d textures..... Thank you semidieu and nruddock.
