I am still new at Poser and how things really work. I have made a background of about 8x10 at 72 dpi and it looks just fine in Photoshop. When I transfer it to Poser, it looks fine in the window. But when I render it, it is so grainy it is not funny. Does any one have an idea what I need to do? Thank you for your help. I am using Poser 4.

Do the render without the image and save it as a TIF. The TIF is important because you can use the alpha channel in Photoshop. Now open the image in photoshop and go to the channels pallet. Click on the white part (your model) with the magic wand selection tool. Switch back to the normal view and copy. Paste this onto a new layer. Create another layer and add your background to it. Move this layer below the one you created above. That should about do it. Now you can do things like add a bit of gaussian blur to the background to give some depth etc... That's the basics anyway. I hope that helps!

First thing, in Photoshop your 8x10 should be higher setting than 72 dpi. That is where your grain is coming from.
I don't know what your final size of your Poser render is, but try 300 dpi. that should make it much shaper. If it still needs to be a sharper background still, increase the dpi to 600, that will mostly depend on your final Poser output render is going to be.

Thank you both. I will give both of them a try. I appreciate your help. Have a wonderful weekend.
