I still have to finish the textures (don't judge the textures from this render, it is a WIP) and make the shock absorbers work.
Will also include poses for the driver and passenger, and there will be six add-on textures available:
Any other suggestions?

I love this. How many material zones are there?
Helgard posted Thu, 31 March 2005 at 11:10 PM
Like a Geep??? Material Zones: A main body tex zone, mainly the green A metal zone, mainly for the fully functioning undercarraige Glass for the windscreen and headlights (but they include a transmap, so you actually have dirt on the windscreen and ribs on the headlight glass) One for the red tail lights and one for the yellow indicators (so that you can animate them lighting up using ambient lighting) One for the wheels (unfortunately the tyres do not have a seperate material) One for the details (the dashboard has dials, seat texture, etc.) One for the rear view mirror (so that you can make it reflective in Poser 5/6 or in Vue) Total of 4 texture maps and a reflection map.

This is great, sign me up for one. Textures, hmmm, maybe a camo version? And BTW, it looks like a Dodge to me, not a Jeep. :)
Helgard posted Thu, 31 March 2005 at 11:55 PM
Fazzel, as the name on the top of the picture suggests, this is definitely a Dodge (WC-51 to be exact). The Jeep was a silly play on Dr Geep's name. The truck was never officially camouflaged by the USA, but I am thinking about making a banana republic camouflage texture, like some dodgy South America guerilla unit would have.

Is it Mimic-ready?
Just kidding.
Helgard posted Fri, 01 April 2005 at 12:28 AM
Is it Mimic-ready? Little Dragon, I was actually going to ask you to help me make it compatible with the Walk Designer. Imagine being able to mix the sexy walk with the forward wheel motion!!!!! Just kidding. ;)

I've made stranger things compatible with Walk Designer. Just ask Bill Redfern .... That looks like some fine work, by the way.

................and after that last post I have to say that we all seem to have WAY too much time on our hands :P That is a beautiful model and well beyond my skill :) If I were to make a suggestion it would be that there were open and close morphs for the doors and maybe a cover prop for the back....... Though it certainly looks great the way it is :)
stupidest_login_ever posted Fri, 01 April 2005 at 1:53 AM
....and after looking more closesly I see that it doesn't have doors so much as tires in the place where one would expect doors :P So instead of Open.Close morphs mabe the tires could be removable ?

A cover like this. It will be added as a add-on freebie to the freebie.

I'm not expert on these vehicles, but it seems obvious to check whether the USMC or the USN used them, and whether there were any obvious differences in colour-scheme and markings.
Ganthor posted Fri, 01 April 2005 at 6:14 AM
Oddly enough, I had a friend of mine who used to rebuild these things for WW II reenactors. We used to ride around in them all the time, although they ride like bricks. Any chance for a nice, sort of Post WW3 After the Bomb, SF kind of texture?

I LOVE IT! I am a Jeep Owner (4 to be exact) I have a passion for these type of vehicles.... Cant wait to get this.... Synpainter

If we're going to get inmto the "which 4x4 is best" arguments, I would just like to stake a claim for the Series III Air Portable Land Rover. The Land Rovers I have seen around as free 3D models seem to have the proportions wrong, looking as if they're a bit too wide.

How come nobody does any good WW II illustrative renders? There's enough stuff out there. Or is it because there's no temples...or swords...or (gulp!) nudity...

Last month, Vanishing Point acquired the rights to all Poser and Vue versions of the Gunpoint catalogue.

Looking very exciting! That truck has such a great "energy" to it's shape... The Banana Republic Guerilla colour scheme and the Post-Apocalypse Patch-up texture sound like nice ideas. Can't wait to see the "Red Neck Farmer" version! (with a rocking chair lashed into to the rear tray fer granmaw!) YEE-HAW!!!!!!!!
Ganthor posted Sun, 03 April 2005 at 7:28 AM

Oilscum: ->>Looks identical to the Dodge WC-51 over at http://gunpoint-3d.com/model-dwc51.html Yes, as Little Dragon noted, Vanishing Point, of which I am a part of, has the rights to convert and sell the entire range of models on Gunpoint. I am busy converting and texturing like a demon, but this is the free ones, that I can advertise in this forum. We also have the rights to another site, but more news will follow when I am ready to release the first freebies and models from that site as well. Ganthor:- We are thinking of a nice MAD MAX type post apocalyptic texture. OK, back to work for me. Will be ready soon. Will post more pics when everything is finished.
