Hi,

For a number of reasons I have had to take my latest Poser 5 scene to PoseRay / POV-ray (Mostly because P5 flatly refuses to render my 6 figure scene under any and all render configuration settings......Arrrggghhhh!). Everything I have read about P6 does not give me much hope for my - yet to be installed - P6 upgrade to be any better until SR1 or later.)

So, my problem is that I tend to use the prop primitive hi-res square for background sections that can be placed beyond windows.
The high-res square is a PZZ that has only one material defined that is the Preview material. Unfortunately PoseRay mangles all the preview materials so I lose my textured surfaces and my ability to configure or refer to them.

So far I have managed to:

  1. Save the PPZ to the library, as a PP2 in order to edit it.
  2. Copy the Preview area definition section and the Preview material definition to new names so that I have a second material definition.
  3. I now have two materials that I can edit in the materials room of P5.

But my question (at last) is: Is it valid to do this and how do I make Poser know that the non Preview material layer is the one that I actually want rendered?
When I rendered the modified square only the preview material was displayed.

Thanks for any info which can set me straight on this.
