Toward the end of this month I will walk in a graduation ceremony to receive my BA in Visual Arts.
From this I derive April's theme of commencement, either making a new beginning or a ceremony of conferring honors.

Enjoy and good luck.

Great challenge!

Fractals will always amaze me!

bluetone posted Mon, 04 April 2005 at 8:59 AM

And congrats on both your win and YOUR commencement!

A nice word for punsters. :)

Sounds Like a good challenge. As Carolly says it is a good topic for visual puns galore. Putting my thinking cap on.

And still everyone is out enjoying the spring thaw.

Is it time to troll the forums for victims....uh, participants? Seriously, this is a great theme. I'm just a tiny bit flat lined for ideas this year. I'll try to have something in...probably at the last minute as usual.

chohole posted Thu, 21 April 2005 at 10:46 AM

OK I will start the ball rolling. A new beginning Bryce with a little help from photoshop

That is a beautiful start!

OK... I've posted my entry in the Photography gallery, hope that's ok. If you need it to actually be in this thread, I'll reduce it further. Carolly

dialyn posted Tue, 26 April 2005 at 7:44 AM

Perhaps?

hauksdottir posted Tue, 26 April 2005 at 10:53 PM

OK... that's 3 entries. It looks like we need a cup o' grog, the king's coin, and someone to go beat the drum in the forums.

chohole posted Wed, 27 April 2005 at 1:23 AM

Yup. Normally it seems the one who set the challenge goes spamming the others. I think we need this challenge on the front page with the others. Its so much fun having a forum that allows all to compete against each other, and its more fun for everyone when there are more entries.

hauksdottir posted Wed, 27 April 2005 at 4:33 AM

Well, which mod/admin handles the front page stuff?

chohole posted Wed, 27 April 2005 at 5:56 AM

Not sure about that. RimRunner did tell me he hoped something was going to be done to publicise this forum more, but that was a month ago. Spamming the other forms doesn't seem to do much good really.

darthuv posted Wed, 27 April 2005 at 9:57 PM

I'd love to see more people take part. But I hate spamming, it just generally ticks people off more than anything else. I'm still recovering from a harddrive failure or I might have had an entry.

Drsuess posted Thu, 28 April 2005 at 7:57 AM

Alright Heres My Entry! Its Been A While Since My Last Post Here So I Thought I Would Give It A Shot. This Is A New Beginning In A Sence! I Know I Ripped Off Hitchhikers Guide But It Was Really Inspired By The Movie "Epoch"! Nice Topic! Peace, DrSueSS Good Luck!

I know I said I wasn't going to enter but Tresamie's entry gave me an idea. Commencement Convergence of divergent actions Atypical use of Terragen using a Apophysis render.

Man, I was really starting to think I wasn't going to be done in time. The Terragen render was 7 hours and 44 minutes.

3 Points to chohole 2 Points to dialyn 1 Point to Tresamie (I liked the Primordial Soup concept... as certainly the beginning of something, but the others have more of a sense of initiation or triggering point.)
