Obviously we're all discovering all kinds of little tips n tricks, from lighting, to render settings, to general use. How do we start a Faq somewhere which includes them?

I can can add rendering/material questions related to my FAQ, if you send it to me.

Gareee posted Mon, 04 April 2005 at 4:31 PM

Have you started a P6 Faq already, Stewer?

funny, 2 weeks ago this was suggested, and a dozen people said its not a good idea, as there is a forum for poser

look in the title of this forum ;) "Poser Forum FAQ (Updated 6/30/04) " I agree.. we need a faq for each version actually.. one for P4/PP, P5 and P6 since each version has it's quirks...

Gareee posted Mon, 04 April 2005 at 4:43 PM

There's P6 forum over at Rnda, but tips get lost in the many many posts. That's why I suggested an ongoing faq instead.

Well, I could extend this one with P6 questions.

Did you all know that you can generate random faces in P6 look under expression, jessi, and at the bottom, keep clicking the random face :) It's fun!

I could use a P6 FAQ. Many thanks to those that could do this for us.

I'm starting to get the hang of P6 but lighting and render settings are a little slow. I can do all that much easier in Shade Standard. IBL and HDRI in Shade if fairly simple to setup compaired to P6.

Still, I need to learn how to do all of it in P6.

Good tip! RDNA is also going to startup a P6 faq, and now has a thread running for contributions. Better I think to have a few different faqs going, and I think Rendo should also add a P6 specific Faq up at the top of the forum, along with it's Poser Faq.

Yes, I think a P6 FAQ is a good idea. I don't remember anyone shooting it down. I do remember people shooting down the idea of a Poser 6 forum, but not a Poser 6 FAQ.

My question: anyone except me have problems changing cameras using the pulldown menu on the Preview window? It doesn't work for me. (At least, not like it did in P4 and P5.) It brings up the new camera's properties in the Parameter dials palette, but it doesn't actually change the camera used in the preview window.

Probably because people didn't realize how "different" it would be actually working with the new features.

Mine too - tho if I change it on the parameters palette it doesn't change in the preview window. Cliff

Thanks, Tyger. That does work. But I do wonder why the pulldown menu doesn't.

I'd love to see a FAQ (or even several of them) - there's never a thing like too much information. BTW, is anyone planning to get the Poser 6 Revealed book, I'm just wondering if it's any good? This book came advertised with the box version of Poser 6.

xoconostle posted Mon, 04 April 2005 at 10:02 PM

Excellent idea. I didn't know about the RDNA project but will check it out. FAQs provide succinct answers that you can rely upon and not have to search all over the place for. Having some reliable ones online would be great for when "newbies" have basic questions, sort of like tutorials, but more comprehensive in scope. I wonder if Renderosity would host their own community-developed Poser 6 FAQ, maybe in that Poser Community area ?

Aureeanna posted Mon, 04 April 2005 at 10:33 PM

I'd like to see people go over to RDNA and put in their contributions there so we would could have ONE central FAQ and not run around trying to keep up with multiple ones...

Gareee posted Tue, 05 April 2005 at 5:45 AM

Well, since RDNA has a team that has had P6 longer then the rest of us, should the "official" Faq be there? Since they were the first of the big guys to offer to host one, that seems the best course, IMHO.

Multiple is better imho. Never know when one will disappear. I started on mine last night but I'll have it up later today had to turn off the computer because of the storm.

RDNA has lots of great stuff, but face it...a lot of people never go there. Rosity is the 800-lb gorilla of Poser sites, so we should probably have one.

Gareee posted Tue, 05 April 2005 at 10:11 AM

Yep, I agree. Plus, some people will deem some things important enough to include, and others will not consider them important enough.

I am happy to add P6 FAQs to the FAQ in here, but you guys will have to do the work of asking and answering the questions - as I don't have P6 (boo-hoo!) Going forward, I would like to revamp the FAQs here so this is a good a place to start as any :-) Best way to go about it is probably to PM me the questions and answers, since as we have noted, threads get buried pretty quickly. That sound okay? Karen Poser Mod
