I'm still on PS7 and it looks like I'll be staying there for the time being. Adobe is setting up an activation scheme like CL had on P5. You remeber how well that worked. When I moved from WinXP to OS X I promised myself not to get in the activation trap again. I hope that Adobe decides to drop it eventually 'cause some of the new tools look really cool. =(

I'm still on PS7 for the same reason (at home). But at work, I have CS...and I suspect I'll have the upgrade. Hard to imagine being 2 versions apart now ('cause sometimes I take work home to complete or work on over the weekend) so I suspect I'll have to give in this year. If the number of people who didn't by CS last time didn't "do the trick", it's unlikely "boycotting" again will do any good.

There's a few new functions that have me interested, i just hate the frequency the series of upgrades are taking. at $150-ish to stay current it's getting more and more expensive...

Ouch, Sean! Seems like Adobe ought to give you a copy (in exchange for you mentioning you use it to do all your wonderful coloring).

I bought Creative Suite and the whole Classroom in a Book collection at the same time to learn them all. About 3 weeks after I received them Adobe announced the CS version. I called them and agreed to give me CS for just the shipping charge. OK. So I decided I wouldn't install CS till I finished the books. I still haven't installed CS and now its CS2! Is there anyone else that feels like companies are coming out new versions more frequently than ever before?

This upgrade is pretty close to the usual 18 month cycle for Adobe products. However, none of the big features set my heart a-beating - I'll have to decide how much some of the nice sounding feature enhancments are worth to me.

Yeah, I hear that! Adobe just send me a card for After Effects saying they dropped the price almost in half. "Save $300 now."

If you work with Illustrator and PS, the Smart Objects sounds handy. The Bridge has expanded quite nicely from the browser. Lens correction enhanced warping, and vanishing point look useful. And, you just have to see the smart guides work in order to appreciate them (!). NAPP's site has some in-depth looks/tutorials on the new features up already and it's a lot more usefull than looking at Adobe's site to see exactly what's being released. Not trying to drum up sales...just mentioning the things that look nice and useful to me.

Oh, and one more thing...LOL...FONT PREVIEW! Tired of having to open Word to see what a font looks like!

I just use Font Navigator that comes with CorelDraw to view my fonts. Lets me see all the fonts on my computer not just the installed fonts so font preview is no biggie for me.

I just got my copy of CS last fall and I'm wondering if I really need to spend this xtra cash right now..........probably will I'm a glutton for punishment and money is meant to be spent :)

I just found out today that Adobe is bringing out the new CS2. I was in shock. I am motion graphics and digital artist but I work out of the home so keeping up on all this software...well, I can literally tell you that my software is well beyond $10,000 now and that's only over a 5 year span! I'll tell you something else, it really pays to be a student when you want software. I'm not anymore and I have really spending the money. I don't mind software companies coming out with great toys quickly but they should have some sort of kickbacks or special programs. Oh well...here's to dreaming. Linda

You don't have to upgrade - both Chris Cox and -um- Paul something (Byers?) from the PS development team have said on the Adobe PS forums that earlier versions of PS will open CS2 files (though the enhanced layer groups will come in as plain groups/ungrouped in earlier versions).
