Ok, I just purchased, downloaded, and installed the UTC M3 plugin because it said nothing about needing the M1/M2/Stephanie plugin to work. Now I've got a plugin I can't use. Can someone tell me if you actually have to have the $20 M1/M2 UTC Plugin to make the $5 one work, and if so, is there some reason that nothing is mentioned about it on the DAZ page? I've sent them an email but, as much as I love talking to them on the phone, I have never, ever, received a return email once I've queried them. Whaddaya think?

I think the way it works is you need the M1/M2 plugin if you want to convert M3 textures to M2, or vice-versa. If you want to convert M3 to V3 or V1, the M3 plugin will work with just the base UTC. Though probably not many people want to do that.

Technically speaking, the product page does indicate that it converts between plugins. However, the "view required products" field only indicates that you need the base app, so I can see how a customer would miss the fine print. Ideally, there would be someting on the page that would make the requirement of having other plugins as obvious as the mention of the base module. Something like "at least one other UTC plugin plugin" in the "required products" field with a link to a page displaying all of them. I can see how you feel misled. I can also see DAZ' defense. :-) If I were you I'd call their customer service number, politely express why you didn't appreciate the surprise. Maybe they'll do something compensatory, maybe not, but it would be good of them to consider making the true requirements clearer. By the way, the price variation on those plugins is weird. Cool app, though.

Yeah, I've got a bunch of M2 textures I want to convert to M3...but an incredibly limited budget for my poser addiction...Alas...

I called DAZ and they are "going to look into" the situation. I explained to the nice young woman on the phone that I wasn't actually worried about the M3 plugin or its cost, that I'd spent more than that on a bad lunch, but I was more concerned that there was no actual warning or notice that you have to have the M1/M2 plugin to make the M3 one work, and what's up with the $20.95 price on the M1/M2 plugin? That's as much as all the other plugins combined! She said she'd look into the situation and email me back....we shall keep everyone posted as to how this goes...I love the product, I'm very fond of DAZ, and I think Dark Whisper is a genius...I just want to convert my Michael textures (whine whine whine...).

Cool, I'm glad they were receptive. You didn't come across as a whiner at all, it was a legitimate concern.

Hi all, There is no warning or notice saying that you need the M1/2 plugin to make the M3 plugin work because it simply is not true. The plugins work regardless of the "sex" of the figure. With the base plugins, you can convert V1/2->V3 and back... Add the M3 plugin and you can now convert V1/2->M3->V3 and back... For each figure that you want compatibility for, a plugin is needed. Some plugins (like the M1/2/Steph one) support several different figure simply because those figures all use the same mapping. The pricing structure is based purely on the time involved to create the plugin. So far the M1/2/Steph plugin has by far been the most complex to develop. cheers, Steve

O Mighty Steve...maker of wonders and creator of beautiful goodies...how may I convert M2 textures to M3 textures using your UTC program? I am a poor confused person seeking knowledge. Please be patient with me...my learning curve tends more towards bowl shaped....
