I there a list of all the current problems with starting up with P6 and the fixes. I've heard of compatability issues with Norton, memory issues etc. I've received mine but would like to know if I'm going to have any of these problems and how to fix it before I install it. Any advise?

Several folks are trying to compile a FAQ, but with all of the posts it's going to take a while. The biggest issue has been to make sure you have the latest video drivers for your card. Other than that, a search for Poser 6 or P6 should result in a lot of reading material for you, as a lot of people are asking questions right now. 8-)

Tirjasdyn: Very well organized. Hope you'll keep it going! Here's another one: Switching cameras. It appears that the only way to change cameras is by clicking the old 'head' icon???

Where the camera controls are, there is also a drop down menu there for all the cameras. That's what I've been using!! thefixer poser coordinator

Actually, you can change cameras in four areas ... the camera controls, the drop down menu in the document window, the Display > Camera choices, and the parameters window. The two that change the actual camera view are the camera controls and the menu commands. The two that affect changing the parameters of the camera are the drop down in the document window, and the drop down in the Parameters window.

Thanks.

I must be missing something. The menu, above the preview window, doesn't actually change cameras for me.

Right .. that's the one I call the menu in the document window. That doesn't change the camera view, but it WILL select the camera as the current object in the Parameters window.

About those cameras... some information from the CL site... "In Poser 6, cameras are treated as actors in that they can be edited, animated and can have keyframes set for their behavior. But cameras are also used to view the current scene, and this can cause some confusion as it is possible in Poser 6 to select a camera to edit or animate while still viewing the scene through a different camera, and conversely to select a camera from which to view the scene without selecting that camera as the current actor. To select a camera to edit or animate, choose it from the Cameras submenu in the Current Actor menu. If needed, you can then bring up its object properties by choosing Properties from the Objects menu at the top of the screen; this will bring up the Parameters/Properties palette with which you can then edit the camera. To view the scene through a particular camera, you can right-click (Control-click on Mac) in the view window for which you wish to select a camera, and choose a camera from the drop-down menu that will appear. This will not change the currently selected actor (which represents a change from Poser 5.) Additionally, the white text in the upper left-hand corner of the view window now serves only as an indicator of the current view camera, not as a way to select that camera; clicking on that text will not do anything."

Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future, but today is a gift. That's why it's called the present.

nice job Tirjasdyn....but there's no screenshots...:>(

ockham posted Wed, 06 April 2005 at 5:39 PM

That article verifies that selection and control are separate, but I'm still confused. Guess I'll just have to let my hands and eyes do the learning non-verbally. The text in the corner was the handiest way of selecting, but I can see that it was always a bit "dangerous". Best solution would be a complete set of keyboard shortcuts, but P6 still doesn't implement that.

Brilliant! This is such a great idea, and I'm going to try it so I can run parallel when I don't have time to mess with the problems and need to get something done. Actually, do you think this is what the beta testers did when they were putting it through its paces? J/K

unzipped posted Wed, 06 April 2005 at 5:51 PM

It sounds pretty simple ockham - right click (control + click for mac one button mice) in the view window (where your scene is), which will bring up a menu in which you can choose the camera you wish to view with. It's a departure from the previous interface but I think you might actually get used to it pretty quick.

DCArt posted Wed, 06 April 2005 at 5:53 PM

That is a really ill-advised "solution." OOOPS! I meant replacing the Poser 6 EXE, not the camera viewing solution. ROFL Crossposted, sorry!

That is a really ill-advised "solution." (with my added apologies to Ockham) But I did get a good laugh and of course it sounded too good to be true. LOL. "Ill-advised". Once I quit laughing and try to be mature about this, I must admit it's very ill-advised. Seriously. LOL.

Right-click: Now that's more like it. In fact, that's better than the original method!
