When I launch Poser 6, it will intermittently try to make an Internet connection (forcing my Internet dial-up app to launch). Theres no set pattern as to when it happens and I have the "Check for Updates on Launch" un-checked in the General Preferences dialog. Has anyone else noticed this? And, if so, do you know what P6 is trying to do? I dont trust applications that make Internet connections willy-nilly, so I would like to get to the bottom of it.

In one of the Reamdes it says that Poser 6 performs two network activities: 1) looking for serial numbers within the local network 2) looking for updates. The serial number query seems to go to the broadcast address to port 11423. Depending on how your network is set up maybe your router tries to send them out. If you want to analyze this in detail, get ethereal.

I had this in P5 and it didn't stop until I removed Poser Content. I blocked The content room right away in P6 so I haven't experienced it in there. Just a thought................. Angel1

Checking for updates can be disabled by unckecking a preference setting
Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.
