if that is a diamond it would not show the yellow in the ring as much as the picture does.

Pollee i dont remember the IOR of glass i've used, but my test is about the dispersion of light in glass... in few words simulate the rainbow color when light pass in a glass objects... about the diamond i agree with you, with the correct IOR gold dont appear... but this is another story :D

ok, I'm not too sure what you are after but to me the shadows are unreal in the way the light is passing through. IMO the 1st picture feels the best. I feel the elephant in the 2nd & 3rd pic would be more lit if the shadow was that bright. The shadow of the elephant's ear is disturbing in the 2nd & 3rd pic. The ring's shadow doesn't feel right but I don't exactly know why. All in all it is interesting work and fascinating to think about.

Interesting - go on!!!! BTW Anyone knows how to fake sub-surface scattering in V5 Esprit?
rodluc2001 posted Sat, 09 April 2005 at 6:11 AM
please an example... what is a "fake sub-surface scattering in V5 Esprit"
Dale B posted Sat, 09 April 2005 at 6:37 AM
Subsurface scatter is the effect of light penetrating a translucent material and being reflected back, both picking up new color from the material, and affecting the appearance of the material, giving it a subtle 'glow' Human skin is probably the handiest example; the 'glow of health' you get in strong light.

Yep! :)

I understand what you are after now. Thank you Dale. Excuse my ignorance. The color in the glass is interesting and beautiful.

About the SSS: I'm sure the answer to this lies in the function editor, but I'm afraid I won't be the one to find out. The editor is way too complicated for me right now, but I'm learning!
