Oh I know there are those guys that have those beautiful babes that walk across their screens scantily clad when they first boot-up in the morning. But noooo, Im not one of those. I have friends that actually surround my computer and are always there to look over me. Allow me to introduce from left to right in the top picture:

Molly
Coquet the clown
And Quasimodo

Molly is my latest. A gift from my sister-in-law saying, she will look over you knowing that Im always alone. With that cute puppyish face that would wrench a heart. Then theres Coquet the clown, also a gift from my sister-in-law a few years ago way before my brothers death, she said: shell keep you company while youre at your computer. I see her as a debonair lady masquerading as a clown and having a swell time. Then theres my pal Quasimodo, a McDonalds toy given to me some 9 years ago from an old girlfriend turned good friend and legal council (sometimes). She said it reminded her of me. How sweet! I could strangle her in a blink. But a very nice person nonetheless. Now, looking at a photograph of me on the bottom there, do you think I look like him?

damn, you got a lot of icons!!!

lordstormdragon ( ) posted Tue, 12 April 2005 at 7:31 AM

Aye, but Trinitrons do rock! Nice starry galaxy poster in the background, too... Wish I could see the stars from here...

What I do is create a Folder Called ICONS and move the icons in there. That way my deskto is not cluttered and I only keep Icons that I use everyday. As an example I see you have shortcut to Mediaplayer, Soundforge, Ad-Aware, CloneCD, Epson Manger TOol, Winzip and lots more I just dont have time to type ;) those I would recommend you move into a Folder called ICONS.

hehe my dad's an icon lover too. But the thing that's worst about his desktop is that the desktop is the only place where the "explorer" icon is hidden :P it should be forbidden to have the explorer button taken out of both the start menu or quick-launch icons :P

I can't put things on my screen, its an LCD flat panel. Things just fall off. Besides, my kids would try to get at 'em. I only have three icons on my DT: My computer Broadband Connect Trash I can't work with clutter. I need a spartan environment. BTW Quest, you don't need a joystick to Bryce. Better get rid of it... ;-)

Analog X Brill idea about the icons folder on the desk top, Never thought of that! That got rid of some clutter

Quest ( ) posted Tue, 12 April 2005 at 12:22 PM

Yeah LSD, its a flat 21-inch screen and the one next to it is a 17 inch Trinitron and I have a 15 inch Trinitron behind me also, not visible here. My work area is configured in a horseshow style where I can revolve around to access stuff. This is my computer room. Behind the monitors is a 5 foot table against the wall stacked high along its length with diskette cabinets. The poster, its a pullout poster from an old National Geographic magazine of the Milkyway galaxy with nebula, pulsar and black hole pictures taken from the Hubble telescope. I use to be very big into astronomy for many years. In fact, it was astronomy that got me into computers. Damn Analog-X, you can see all that? Thats a great idea about the icon folder but I like my clutter and I often used most of those programs almost on a weekly bases. But who knows, I might give your idea a try. LOLYep, youre right Bandolin, thats an old Logitech digital joystick that hasnt been used in years. It now holds the 17-inch Trinitron down. Sometimes when its late at night or in the wee hours of the morning, I look up to see Mollys behooving face just begging me to go to bed while Coquet is having a grand old time smiling away and Quasimodo just chuckles his head off at me.

I have all my screen icons set up as one of the toolbar entries and check the "view my desktop as a webpage" on the active desktop setup. that way all shortcuts show upon a bar like the program files do. It keeps the screen clear for wallpapers, etc.

My desktop icons are in a line to the left and right of a central image,.......background is black. There is nothing on my monitor except dust and nicotine stains.

I love your computer room, Quest! Something I would like to have as well...but unfortunately no room for it. My computer stuff is set up in our frontroom along the same wall as my hubbys computer stuff. I just have a pic of my son on top of my monitor. He is smiling at me whilst holding a can of pop. I never thought to put up some of my furry animals there, so will have to look and see how I can correct that. grin

I've always wondered. If that's what a Quasimodo looks like, what does an actual modo look like?

Aye, I use Quicklaunch for Bryce, Photoshop, Maya, Rhino, and Firefox... Most of my other icons aside from the regular Windows stuff are just temporary crap that sits on my desktop until I get to it... Sackrat, does the black background help keep your mind clear of previous influences? Maybe I'll try it out, I still have my latest pic up on my desktop, perhaps it's keeping me in a rut...

Well, Quest started it...

The Win XP manual was a $70 necessity, since I'm new to PCs. I'm a Mac guy. You can see the G3 under the desk. No room for Desktop friends. The room is in the basement which is the kids' playroom. So, any desktop friends would be immediately absconded with...

And yes, the trophy on the upper left; IS a bowling trophy.

Message edited on: 04/12/2005 18:28 The desk is from IKEA. It took me 5 hours to assemble! And carpentry is a hobby of mine :-

I have an IKEA computer desk too! Only with a Vaio, and no G3. @ Quest, it's time you've come to the dark side as well. Get FireFox browser.

I really think I should post an image of my living/sitting room, 'cos it's wall to wall computers and moniters. There's absolutely no room for anything else. LoL 8)
