Nice but the hourglass goes on the belly, the one that has it on the back is the cheveron type of black widow. Love the model, so delicate for something so deadly. Thanks Sixus! Marque

Poser 5 and 6 option, supposedly links you to 'sponsored' free or merchant sites that you can download and install to your copy of Poser (what do I know, I have Poser 4..;) It had less than stellar performance under Poser 5, jury's still out on 6..;)

Even if you don't have P6 or P5, you can go to www.contentparadise.com, register, and download the freebies. Some of them require Poser 6. Others, like this spider, do not.

I haven't actually tried it in P4/PP, but I looked in the zip, and it seems like it should work. Possibly the textures won't, if it uses shader nodes, but it's a very nice spider even without textures. Comes with a bunch of web props, too.

how do you find the featured freebie? It's not in the Freestuff. I had to do a search for it to find it...
randym77 posted Wed, 13 April 2005 at 8:55 PM
Just click on the "featured freebies" banner in the upper right corner of the screen.
xantor posted Wed, 13 April 2005 at 9:30 PM
How do you download it? I added it to the cart and then clicked on confirm order and it took me to an invoice page but no download?
randym77 posted Wed, 13 April 2005 at 9:34 PM
Scroll down. The download link is very tiny, part of the invoice.

@Marque, if the red is on the back, it's probably an Australian Red Back Spider, a relative of the Black Widow. :-)

Oooh! Nice spider! Did you see the legs in the third image? sort of glisteny-furry?
I have to agree with Marque about the placement of the hourglass (having seen a few too many of these beasties) but the rest of her is exquisite. Thanks to sixus1 for the model, and to CuriousLabs for the hosting.

Oooops. We talked and we are going to put out a corrected image map and a bonus alternate spider texture within a day or two and get it uploaded to CP. I'll post here when we do. --Rebekah--

Excellent! When I lived in Visalia, they were nesting above my front door in a vacant light fixture... be glad that you don't have that sort of eye-level experience! Carolly

Yikes! I hope that Peter Jackson doesn't see these!!!

Why ? I don't think that it looks a thing like Shelob. Hope you enjoy them. --Rebekah--

Peter Jackson has a thing about Spiders. They scare him. It must have been hard for him to cope with Shelob.

Ahhhhh, gotcha now :) Thanks for the clarification....merchants and providers tend to get a little paranoid these days twitch BTW--I am terrified spiders. Les had to kill one for me once that was so big he used a katana...it was as big as a dinner plate. twitch --Rebekah--

Wolf spiders can get pretty big... all nice and hairy. ;) I don't mind spiders... they eat aphids and other pests... but sometimes I have to clear them out. The black widows over the porch were a bit over the line. Besides the rather notorious spider in LOTR, there is an entire forest of them in The Hobbit. The dwarves get all tied up (with an occasional foot or nose sticking out, the spiders weren't all that tidy in their packaging) and Bilbo chases off the spiders and rescues everyone. If Jackson ever does The Hobbit, he'll have plenty of experience artfully draping webs. Since he has a extreme phobia regarding creepy-crawlies, he knows what sort of emotional buttons to push. I forgot all about those spiders in the Hobbit...oh yeah, he has got to be loving his job right about now. :) --Rebekah--
