How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when
isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is
supposed to be fire and brimstone?

You have good reason to be scared - I've been jumped by a few dogs that make me shiver now myself ;-) Oh, and a few scares with canine's too!!! lol
(",) EDIT : Actually, looking at it again, the dog looks more 'real' than the background with the capture - if it looked a bit meaner it would be very reminiscent of the Stephen King story 'The Sun Dog'....
