Tutorial Ringed Planet in Bryce 1.Open Bryce, delete the ground plane and set sky to simple black or star field. 2.In create mode make a sphere 3.Create a torus 4.Switch to edit mode and use the resize xyz to enlarge the torus to surround the sphere. (You may find this easier if you rotate you view to be face on to the torus, just move the view so that you keep the sphere and torus on the same center). 5.With the torus selected click on A to edit the attributes. Here is where you change this doughnut to a flat ring. Z is the thickness I use .1 as a thickness. Click on the check mark to change. 6.Now you have a really big ring, too big in my view. To change the size of the ring (with the ring selected) click on the E. A smaller number will make the ring narrower, you can just enter a number or click on the double arrow and slide with you mouse and it will change. If you want an empty gap(s) in you ring and another ring(s). 7.Now with the ring sill selected click on M to add a finish. Use the drop down and go to Wild and Fun, select Worker Bee Stripes (the yellow sphere with gray stripes) and apply it to your ring(s). 8.You now have yellow and gray ring(s). Fine if you have a yellow and gray planet. 9.At this point I suggest you add the material of your choice to the planet to see how the rings look. Probably not too hot. 10. Reselect the rings and click on M to go to the material lab. 11.Click on the Texture Source Editor (the second button on the upper left side of the box on the upper right). You should now be in the Deep Texture Editor. The box on the left (component one) is what you will be working with. The three buttons on the lower left of the box pick the colors for your rings. Click and hold your mouse button and a eyedropper appears. Move it over the color of your choice and then repeat with the other two until you have the color(s) you want. I suggest colors to match or compliment your planet. Click on check mark to apply. 12.Once you are happy with the results group your planet and ring(s) then you can resize and position it as needed. 13.I suggest you now save it to a file for use in another scene. Its easier to just change textures and colors for another planet or picture than to start from scratch again.
