I have Vue 3 and am experimenting with water effects. At the moment the water scenes I have generated in Terragen seem to have more realistic surfaces especially waves . Would I be right in thinking that you can't edit water in Vue3 in the same way you can edit terrain? Any help greatly appreciated - I have some fine 3DS Warships just waiting for a stormy sea!

Is Vue 4 a worthwhile upgrade BTW and can it run on Windows 98?

Here are the requirements for Vue 4 - Windows 98 is supported. You cannot edit water the same way as terrains, but you can apply a water material to a terrain if you want your water to have a particular shape (other than a flat surface).

I just recently upgraded from 3.1 to 4 and I have to say that the water is MUCH better in Vue4. With 3.1 the water was always flat. No sign of even small waves. In Vue4 it seems to automatically apply slight waviness to the water which is usually the type of effect you are looking for. Vue4 has a lot of other advantages too including easier terrain editing and stable animation.

Thanks . It sounds like Vue4 is a lot more realistic fr water . Mind you the terrain trick sounds like its worth a try.
