This is really cool. But how can I use this to make something else glow like a simple cube or whatever?

Whoa! Normally I do this sorta thing in postwork, neat that it can now be done in P6. Looks like another good reason to upgrade.

is the set up the same for P5?

Yea, and no, The probelight should work the same way, but the gather node isn't avilable in P5. For the glow in P5 you may want to try a spot array at a low intensity value. (what I mean by a spot array is 4-6 spots facing each other in a sqaure/cube fasion. This would 'fake' a point light. )

ohh BTW this works well for glowing eyes. Just apply the same problight node and diffuse values to all of your eye materials.

thanks will give it a try

make sure you use a very low intesity value for your lights. Start at like 1 or 2% and move up from there. Each scene is different so there is no 'magical number'
